Another fun day filled with painting, picnics and water play!

18 September – Daily Journal

We had a busy arty day today! On the art table we had different kinds of crayons for drawing and we had the easel out. Everyone wanted to try painting on the easel and liked using lots of different colors to make beautiful paintings. Buds took turns on the easel, making one painting to take home and one for their portfolios. It was fun to see the concentration on Buds faces. Some Buds also did hand painting as the paint feels nice on our hands and it’s fun to use our hands to smear the paint with and make lots of hand prints.

Today Sharee made a fire truck sound and put the big fire truck in the middle of the circle. We talked about what we should do if there is a fire. Put your hand over your mouth and quickly go outside. We then said we are going to practice what to do if there is an earthquake and the floor is shaking and the furniture is moving. We sang our earthquake song and Buds got under the table nice and quickly. Well done Buds!

After singing and counting to 10 we got up and did some dances.

While we were getting ready for the park we heard a whistle and it was a fire drill practice and we had to go quickly outside. The teachers had no shoes on but that is ok as it’s important to move safely and quickly.

Today was the perfect temperature for a picnic snack in the park. We took our snacks and drinks and sat down under the big tree to eat. It was lovely to feel the light breeze while we were eating.

At the park Jonah and Sofie had fun swinging on the bars and playing on the climbing frame. Karl saw a butterfly and then decided to fly like an airplane and soon had Sofie and Dominik joining him. Hauruto and Dominik spent a lot of time in the sand box today.

After coming back from the park we went straight up to Flower Class and had great fun at the water table, playing with the sea creatures, pouring water into containers and splashing about. Buds wore waterproof smocks but some water managed to get on Buds clothes so we changed them and sat down to our yummy lunches.
