We can draw our bodies

Freaky Friday! When we came to school, we saw a strange person sitting on a chair wearing our school T-shirt and cap. From a distance it looked like a real person and then when we came nearer, we could see that it was “The people that we made”, Alexis said. If some people don’t know about our activity and how we made this person, they would think it a bit “freaky”, that’s why we thought “Freaky Friday” was a good name for today.

??????????????????????Today we all tried to draw ourselves with bodies. We started off this activity by sitting with Shelley and discussing and looking at one another. We saw that besides having a head, we also have a neck, shoulders, a tummy, arms, fingers and legs. So we set about creating ourselves using the head that we made last week, with collage materials. Alexis drew clothes over her body in many colours. Some of ???????????????????????????????us are just starting to create pictures with specific shapes and form and since we are learning about ourselves, our teachers thought that it would be a good idea to try to out this kind of activity. When our teachers guide us, we can do so many things. They want us to try to do the same things, without them, which we think that we can. At the other activity tables, we did a jigsaw puzzle with 108 pieces and we pegged mittens and socks onto a washing line. Alexis, Nina, Miyu chan and Vincent sat ???????????????????????????????and tried to do the puzzle but it was quite difficult. Then our teachers sat with us and we looked at the picture and fitted the pieces in to successfully complete it. Some of us did hand prints on our birthday cards in preparation for when it is our birthdays. Hisami san made a beautiful card for all of us with some new features that we didn’t have last year.

Our teachers often notice us looking in the mirrors in our classroom. We like to see ourselves from time to time and some of us love having photographs taken. Today, Michaela looked for the camera because she wanted a photograph of ??????????????????????her and her Lego construction. She felt so proud of what she had made and wanted it to be recorded by her teachers. We again examined the wooden tray with the magnifying glass and the other game with the insects and the magnetic stick.

During circle time, we sat together and Koh chan was the weather person. We had turns to replace the days of the week, the number for the date, the picture of the weather and the word for the weather. Then we all read the words together. Every day, someone will be the weather person and do this task. We sang “There are seven days in a week” and then we whispered our good morning song. We sang so quietly, that we could hardly hear one another. ??????????????????????We think that it is good to speak really quietly because people listen more carefully. We listen to our teachers when they speak softly.

When we returned from the park, we read the Opposite book. We went through many different opposites and thought about the answers e. g. the opposite of right is left, the opposite of big is small, the opposite of smooth is rough, the opposite of sleep is wake up etc. When we sat down for lunch Hisami told us to raise our left hand. ???????????????????????????????Some of us remembered which one was the left one. Then we raised our right hand and then we raised both hands.

We all ate heartily after having had a great time in the park, on a day with perfect weather. We met Adrien’s mum, Eunkie when we were leaving the park. She came to say hello, and she brought the teachers some delicious homemade scones. We were glad to hear that Adrien is ??????????????????????enjoying his time at the British School, even though he is missing his friends at Ohana. We all love it when “old” Ohana family members return to the school to say hello.

Love always Shelley, Hisami and Liezel.
