Happy Birthday Ethan & Ryan

It was a special day for Ethan and Ryan today as we celebrated their 6th Birthday together. Congratulations to the both of you!! This morning in the classroom we had lots of dinosaur models roaming the tables. Beckett told us how he wanted to continue decorating his dinosaur and that it was a carnivore and needed to add sharp teeth to it.DSCF6647 Using the junk art materials many of the children have made their own dinosaurs now and attached sticker eyes to them to make them look more realistic. We put them on some fake grass with a blue background on top of the book cabinet so please take a look when you get a minute. Jennifer and Sophie chose dinosaur toys to draw and used lots of colored pencils on their artwork too. Ava, Allie and Tokutaro were very nice and helped decorate the birthday crowns for Ethan and Ryan using paint markers, sparkly pens and colored pencils. They looked great, thank you. On the second table the Jeremy, Jessica, Ethan, Ryan, Yossi and Tirza decorated their secret surprise presents for the end of the year party gift to parents. DSCF6646They are doing a wonderful job and know you are going to be so happy with them. DSCF6645Yossi then moved to the play area and dressed up like a knight in armour and sat down to play chess together. Yossi was so sweet helping Tirza with the rules and they played for a long time. Marc, Ethan, Ryan, Tokutaro and Jeremy played together on the fake grass with the toy dinosaurs and we heard lots of roars form their dinosaurs. After packing away the toys Ethan and Ryan’s mother Tomoko arrived to celebrate their birthday. We soon began and they loved receiving their birthday crowns and heart cards which they stretched across the room. Tomoko brought one of their favorite Japanese books to read titled ‘Chika 100 kai date no ie’ which translates as ‘100 underground homes’. The book was about lots of different creatures that like to live underground who dig homes for themselves. It was a great book and Tokutaro asked about why the animals dig underground. DSCF6654Tomoko and the teachers explained nicely that some creatures including people make homes above the ground while others make them below ground. We were amazed at how they all listened really carefully to the book and tanked Tomoko for reading it to us. DSCF6665We decided to sing one of our favorite songs to say thank you, ‘Open them, shut them’ once the usual way and the second the ‘funny way’. Ethan and Ryan then called their friends to the tables to eat. We all sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and they blew really hard that all the candles went out very quickly. We had some really yummy mini-cupcakes and strawberries. Thank you Tomoko they were delicious. The park was warm and we soon got really hot and sweaty but had our water bottles with us. In the classroom we practiced one of our songs using some letter cards which the children will perform at the end of year party for us. They tried really hard and held up the cards mostly in the right order. Well done guys. All our Love, Darren, Sharee, Ayaka & Rashmi
