To Singapore!

Tuesday 18th March - To Singapore!

This morning on the front table, our popular cinnamon play doh and Mr. Potato head parts made a triumphant return. L went to work kneading and crumbling chunks with her hands. She picked up a large chunk and sniffed the cinnamon scent with a giggle and smile! L kindly gave some to her friend S who squished a lump into a set of feet! Stomp! Stomp! Thank you for sharing!

At the second table, we saw some flowers sticking out of a cup. When we got closer, we saw there were popsicle sticks and pink tissue paper out for us to create some beautiful orchid flowers in commemoration of Gohsan’s international month for Singapore! Gohsan taught us that the orchid is the flower of Singapore! Gohsan sat with us and helped us make one of our very own! K and T sat so quietly and showed great focus, adding their green stems and pretty pink tissue! Y also came over with S and made orchid sculptures uniquely all their own! R showed amazing hand-eye coordination by gluing down items all on her own! Way to go using your fingers to create beautiful works of art!

In the sensory table were flowers and pompoms with the challenge for us to use tongs and grabbers to locate as many pompoms hidden throughout! H was excited to discover a giant white pom pom with the grabbers! He held it up with a great smile! K also found some little white and blue pom poms in the mix and picked them up with his fingers. K is great at pinching and picking up things with his fingers!

Nearby, N pulled the jeepney and placed some items inside, to get ready for a trip around the room! He loves pushing the jeepney! L helped N pull it around the room making “beep, beep!” sounds and laughing.

After we finished cleaning up and sat down for morning circle, we welcomed Gohsan to teach us about Singapore. She showed us a big poster of numbers from one to ten and asked us all to count along with her! L counted by using his fingers and touching each one as we went along! Way to sequence along!

Gohsan also sang the popular song “two little tigers”, with us as we walked around the room pretending to be tigers in a jungle!

As we sat our tired tiger bodies down in a circle, Gohsan showed us a popular game from Singapore where we roll bouncy balls around inside a box to catch them in small holes. It was a lot of fun! N was fascinated to see the colorful balls roll into the goal and tilted it for himself with a smile! What a cool game! Thank you Gohsan!

Before we knew it, it was time to eat our snacks and head out to step park where some of us had the chance to dig up some weeds in the Buds step park area garden! Before we set out, we had an earthquake drill! We practiced covering our heads. The more we practice, the better prepared we will be!

Once we arrived at the park, A was so excited to pull out some long grass with Liezel and said “dekimashita!”. R also pulled out some weeds but quickly ran to go play. YAAY!

Thank you for a great day everyone!

Love, Buds
