Hej from Sweden!

Today, the Buds class set off to Sweden! We welcomed our friend N’s mom and dad! We also said hello to another new friend, Evita from the Petals class! She will be with us until tomorrow for our Ohana school teacher exchange!

On the first table, there were coloring pages of Sweden’s flag and country shape! There were many yellow and blue crayons and coloring pencils available to use and share! L was excited to try out the colored pencils and showed amazing grip as she held her pencil while coloring!

On the second table, we stamp painted some sakura and heart shapes onto a banner we will hang up on moms day! S had a big smile on his face while stamping two different shapes at the same time! He enjoyed the sakura stamp the most!

Inside the sensory tray were colorful soft flowers and people hidden underneath. E found the firefighter and made siren sounds PEE PO PEE PO! She loves to see the fire trucks when we go out to walk also! T came by with S and picked up the doctor toys. He tap, tap, tapped them along the edge of the table and cocked his head back with a grin when S noticed.

After we wrapped up cleaning, we gathered for circle time where we sang our good morning song and greeted our friend N’s dad and mom! They introduced themselves and we learned that they are from Sweden! Wow! After singing the “who are the people in your neighborhood” song, we all stood up and pretended to be airplanes and flew off to Sweden together!

Once we landed and settled in, we turned off the lights and turned on the magic projector for a surprise. L showed us a very big animal that lives there called a moose! It was so tall! F said that they can grow as tall as our ceiling! They also shared a photograph of N wearing a traditional crown of flowers that people in Sweden wear during the warmer months festival “midsommar”. F then gifted us all a wonderful handmade flower crown from colorful paper and illustrations! L and L were so proud to wear theirs like a prince an princess. Thank you!

Afterwards, we danced to a very fun Swedish children’s song “Små grodorna” or “little frogs”! We danced and pretended to be frogs together! R really enjoyed raising her hands and flapping her pretend ears to the beat! Before we knew it, it was time for us to say goodbye to L and F before washing up to enjoy our snacks.

Everyone got ready and set out early for the park to take advantage of the great weather! A chased Brandon with a ball and laughed out loud with excitement! I was happy to throw the spiked pink ball to Liezel. What a good arm! H took the golden ball and hid it inside the tree trunk like a secret treasure! After climbing along the hand rails, K and N both took a break together and sat down like best buds to catch a breath! Whew!

Thank you so much for an awesome day! See you tomorrow!

Love, Buds
