Sumo Wrestlers
We started our morning adding some white paint on our world map painting for the ice caps using sponges! We continued with our hot air balloon and oni crafts. We played with the lego and worked together to make a giant house! After our morning free play we talked a little about fires and did our fire drill for this month.
We sat down in a circle and looked at our, “How Are You Today” wall where our friends put their faces on how they were feeling. We quickly reviewed the names of the feelings then sang the song.
Nimo: How are you today?
J: Happy!
R: Angry, grr!
J: Happy
M: Happy
P: Happy
D: Disgusted
I: Happy
M: Happy
S: Happy!
We then sang the Seven Continents Song and remembered that Japan is part of Asia. Our Class Counter P counted our friends and Attendance Helper J took note of who was here and who wasn’t. Calendar Helper D updated our class calendar.
P: 9 Friends!
D: Today is Thursday, February 6!
M checked the weather outside and stuck the sunny mark on our calendar.
Today’s letter was H, we practiced making the sound of H and then looked at some cards. After our phonics time, we did a quick review of what we learned so far.
D: Daddy come to Shinkansen
R: Sushi!
J: Tokyo Tower
S: Maguro is fish. Tuna.
M: I like this one, Ikura!
D: I like ikura.
M: Flower!
R: Sakura.
Today’s book was, “Take Me Out To The Yakyu” by Aaron Meshon. It was a story about a little boy who liked baseball in America and in Japan. His American Grandpa and Japanese Oji-chan took the boy to a baseball game in America and Japan and we looked at the differences.
J: Japan!
D: Are we there yet? Yes, we are!
M: I like this one, Edamame.
J: Towel! My Towel!
R: I like baseball.
Another big sport in Japan is Sumo. We learned a few cool things about sumo wrestlers!
Nimo: All sumo wrestlers can do the splits! Sumo wrestlers eat lots and lots of food!
Before we got ready for the park, we played the sumo game! We took turns and pushed the green mat with Nimo! If we pushed hard enough, Nimo would go down with the mat and we won! We each got to play two rounds then got ready for the park and had fun playing with our Buds and Flowers friends in Step Park!
Thank you for another fabulous day! Have a great evening and see you tomorrow for Fantastic Friday!
Love,
Petals
