Happy Monday! We’re excited to see all our friends after the weekend!

CIRCLE TIME

We practiced our Rainbow Song which we will sing at the care home tomorrow. The words were a bit fuzzy in our memories, especially the last verse. M and O offered to sing that part for us so that we could hear the words again! After that, we were remembered! Hopefully we don’t forget again tomorrow.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Do you know how to build a house?

Surprisingly, most of us said yes!

R: Yes, first we can get something square like rectangle. Door can be like light blue. We can use something like makura!

M: Pillow! Makura is pillow!

S: I know how to make a rainbow house! I did it before with my brother. We made a big one! We were able to go inside.

It seems like most of us know how to make a play house out of pillows and chairs, but does anyone know how to make a real house?

C: My grandpa can make a house. I don’t know how, but grandpa can make a house using wood!

T: My dad built a house! It’s bigger than Ohana! I don’t know how he made it. It’s a golf course.

S: My grandpa built something like a house using blocks. Stone blocks!

Y: The blocks will fall down because it’s not stable. Maybe we can use glue.

HOMEWORK

Does anyone know what their home is made of? Maybe wood, blocks, or something else?

O: My house is made of diamonds!

Let’s ask our parents tonight when we go home!

HOME BUILDING CHALLENGE

Today, we split into 3 teams again with the challenge of building a house using one of three materials, wooden blocks, wooden sticks, or LEGO.

After 10 minutes, we discussed how it went.

R: It was difficult because it keeps falling!

The wooden blocks and sticks teams were frustrated at the fact that their homes kept falling down. What they started building in the beginning wasn’t what their finished product looked like.

But the LEGO team didn’t have that problem at all. Why?

M: Because it sticks! It’s more stable.

We realize that we need something to stick the pieces together so that it doesn’t keep falling down. What sticks buildings like Ohana or our homes together? Are they made from LEGO? Let’s keep learning about homes and buildings this week!

Have a wonderful evening! See you tomorrow!

Love,
