Petals Flag!

It’s our first Monday back everyone! We started off our morning with fun activities like spin tops, cars, legos and calligraphy. Nimo played with the spin tops and showed friends how to wrap the thread around the spin top. Esmi played with cars and helped a shy friend join in on the fun. When it was time to pack away everyone worked very hard to clean up and get ready for circle time.


Today to start circle time we sang and danced to “The Floor is Lava”, “Baby Shark” and “Baby Shark Korean Version”. The Korean version was a recommendation from D. Which was perfectly tied to this week's theme, Countries and Flags. We learned where our friends are on the map and what the flags for those countries look like.

W : *points at shark* Baby Shark!
R : *Points at flags* Korea, Australia, Japan here
M : Santa Claus here!
E : Where is this?
Esmi : Australia
E : China is here!
Esmi : That’s right? What do you see?
M : Fish!
R : My lunch is fish!
E : My lunch is this, octopus!
Esmi : Great! Let’s look at the flags. What color do you see a lot of?
E : red!
M : White!
Esmi : Why do you think a lot of countries use those colors?
Petals : I don’t know..
Esmi : That’s okay, maybe we’ll learn about it next time. It’s just something to think about. Now let’s see here, this flag is South Africa. Which teacher is from South Africa?
E : Shelly!
Esmi : What about this one? The Ukraine?
M : Maryna!
Esmi : That’s right! What do you see on these flags?
R : I see the sun!
E : White!
W : Blue!
M : So many white!
Petals : Flag
E : Yellow and red!
Esmi: Great so it’s time to make a flag for Petals class. What colors should be on our flag?

Then we moved on to make a flag for Petals class. We chose our favorite flags and decided to draw it onto our Petals flag. It was so much fun to draw our Petals class flag with friends.
Then it was time to get ready for the park. We went to the park close by and after the park it was story time . For story time we read “Arlo Makes a friend” by Wendy Wax.

Esmi : Just like Arlo, Nimo and Esmi come from far away. There’s only one way to see our friends and family back home.
J : Airplane?
Esmi : Yes!
R : Ball!
M : Snake! (on the tree)
R : Lion!
D : Ice Cream!
J : This…snake
S : Snake!
P : (the snake is ) not happy!
S : No.
M : Roots here!
R : There is a dog bone, its hot!
Esmi : Like Arlo, how should we make friends in Petals class?
R : Be nice.
M : I play nicely!
D : I play good!
E : J likes Thomas the cat?
R : J plays with cars, double decker bus!


Finally we ate lunch. We were so hungry!
