Do you know every type of blue?
Hello everybody and welcome back to another super funny day inside Flowers Class. We hope that you will enjoy today’s reading!
As always, we started our day by playing and doing crafts. It was fun! We also enjoyed the warm weather at Step Park. Being outside is so enjoyable now that it is a bit cooler!
CIRCLE TIME AND QUESTION OF THE DAY
As soon as we came back from the park, we sat in a circle and waited to talk about our daily topic: colors! But first, we sang our “cookie jar” song. In this one, we ask some friends that are sitting nicely in the “crisscross apple sauce, hands in the cookie jar” position to tell us what their favorite taste of cookie is!
C.: Rainbow cookie!
Z.: Chikyu (Earth) cookie!
O.: Diamond cookie. It’s jelly cookie!
T.: Strawberry.
S.: Chocolate.
Then, J. came in with a special paper that he brought from home and told us proudly: “I did my homework”. That’s right, yesterday Cameron asked us to think about a color that we don’t know about yet and to share it with our classmates.
M.: We said about colors.
R.: Funny name colors
S.: I remember mustard (yellow).
R.: Violet is like purple.
J.: I brought this color (turquoise). It starts with a “T” but I cannot read. It’s like Turkey. You see it at the swimming pool, in the water. When I went to Kyoto I saw this color in my hotel!
As we were still thinking about funny colors, Axel brought a book called: “Art” by Patrick Mcdonnell in which we follow the story of Art, a little boy that loves to do art!
But what’s art? Do Flowers children know?
C.: It’s like my mommy and daddy. They do design. It’s like painting and making stuff. They also make pictures.
C. (As we were reading the book): That’s way too much art!
J.: Too much paint!
C.: The dog is trying to lick it!
T.: That’s like rainbow art.
Z.: Circle candy!
It seemed like our friends could grasp the concept of art pretty well! M. even said: “We do at Ohana”. So, to keep on digging their knowledge on the topic. Axel prepared a game for us! He showed us an image that he printed and a lot of different pieces sur paper in which were different types of blue.
Axel: Do you know this painting? It was painted by a famous artist called Van Gogh? This painting is called “Starry Night”, and it has a lot of different shades of blue. Can you try to match the different types of blue with the picture?
Every child from Flowers Class got a different type of blue and had to try to match it with part of the painting!
T.: Baby blue O.: Deep sky-blue R.: Indigo Y.: Air force blue
R.: Egyptian blue J.: Turquoise M.: Teal T.: Ultramarine
Y.: Maya blue M.: Oxford blue S.: Cobalt blue C.: Sapphire
Z.: Midnight blue S.: Persian blue
And everyone managed to match their colors to the painting! It was the perfect moment to talk about our “Question of the Day”: “Do you know every type of blue?”
R.: I don’t think so.
S.: I thought I know, but I don’t know there was that much.
M.: I only know dark blue!
And that’s it for today! Thank you for following our daily adventures. See you tomorrow for more!
Lots of Love,
Children from the Flowers Class.
