The Colors Around Us
Happy Monday! Welcome back to Flowers Class for another fun week!
CIRCLE TIME
We kept our focus on some of the colors that we introduced last week. We thought about things that are those colors and made a list.
YELLOW
O: Sun
R: Star
J: Lightning
C: Yellow pen
T: Yellow paint
M: Lemon
Y: Quiet zone sign
S: Yellow hair
RED
A: Apple
R: Hot pepper
C: Fire
M: Blood
O: Strawberry
T: A red dragon
M: Hot water
GREEN
Y: Melon
Z: Green iPad
A: Frog
T: Mango
O: Green banana
R: Bug
After making these lists, we still associate red with bad things…
S: Red is very bad. There are bad things in the world that are red, like blood when it comes out.
But it doesn't mean that everything that’s red is bad.
J: I like the fruits that are red because they’re yummy!
We also felt a certain way about other colors too. How do we feel about green?
R: not good.
We couldn’t figure out why we don’t feel good about green. So far, we feel good about blue but are still unsure about how we feel about yellow. Maybe some colors elicit strong feelings while others don’t.
STORY TIME
We looked at a book called Van Gogh’s World of Color by Julie Aigner-Clark. Each page showed a painting by Van Gogh featuring different colors. The last page had trees painted purple. We’ve never seen purple trees before, so we tried to think of something that really is purple. We couldn’t think of anything.
HOMEWORK
Our homework today is to ask our family if they know something that is purple. We’ll share them with the class tomorrow!
Have a great evening! See you tomorrow!
Love,
