Making our Petals Class Color Chart!

Hello everybody! We hope you all had a wonderful day! We had another fabulous school day full of fun and learning! As soon as we arrived at school we worked on our droplet painting. Earlier this week we made a little book full of cotton squares. We used the pipettes to drop paint onto the cotton then mixed two of them to make secondary colors! Today we pasted more cotton shapes on the cover to make a flower shape. We dropped paint on them to make the flower colorful! After our crafts we could choose to eat our snacks or not. We wanted to go to the park early to beat the heat. It would be too late to eat our snacks after the park so if we were hungry we could eat them or get ourselves ready for the park by rubbing sunscreen and bug spray on our skin, then getting our hats and water bottles.

We were the first ones at the park today! A few other schools joined us, but it was wonderful to have the park to ourselves for a little bit! When we got back to school, many of us changed our shirts because it was soaked from sweating so much at the park! We made sure to drink a lot of water, before, during, and after the park.

We started our circle time singing songs and practicing our sports day chant. Some of our friends wanted to sing the “Monster” song so we made our own version with the tune of “Go Away Big Green Monster” and named some things we were afraid of along with the color.

L: White ghost!

M: Pink Monster!

R: How about a blue one?

D: Yellow!

R: Black, fly, Halloween (Bat)

P: Monster! Orange!

We read the book, “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What So You See?” by Bill Martin Jr and Eric Carle. It was a fun, colorful book about animals and colors. We reviewed the primary and secondary colors again briefly then split up into three groups to do our “Petals Class Color Chart” project. Our teachers wanted to make a brand new poster in our classroom about colors. On a big piece of paper, our teachers made boxes and in between the boxes were “+” and “=” signs. We painted our hands and made handprints in the right boxes! We did a little presentation of which box we stamped our hands in and what color we used.

We finished the day playing a memory game. Nimo had all of the colors we have been learning, “Red Orange Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple”. Nimo would show us all 6 and then covered it with a blanket and took 2 or 3 away. We had to use our brains to remember which colors used to be on the table and tell our teachers which colors were missing. It was tricky for some or us, but we didn’t give up and tried our best to remember. We also used the color wheel behind us as a clue to help us figure out the answer. After a round of, “What’s Missing?” we played, “Fix It”. It was similar to our first game, but this time, instead of figuring out which was missing, we tried to remember the order of the colors and rearrange them because Nimo mixed them up. The games we played today were very tricky, but it was a fabulous work out for our brains!

Thank you for another great day! Hope you all have a wonderful evening and we will see you again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
