How To Relax When We Are Angry

Wednesday September 11th - How to relax when we are angry.

Happy Wednesday

Today at the front table A, L and S were using the paint dot markers to splodge yellow, red and purples all around the paper, it looked so colorful!

Behind them R and I were interested in the people figures. It was so nice to see all of the different occupations that we could be when we grow up too.

We also had some mega blocks out at the back of the room. Y and M were enjoying using the toy cars.

I requested “ Baby shark please” so we sang everybody's favorite marine life song! We boogied as we cleaned up and made a circle.

At circle time we looked at the emotion of anger. Lucy showed us with some puppets what we can do when we feel angry. We counted to five and took a deep breath. I, I and A used a big voice to count with us, well done guys.

We sang some relaxing songs “shake and move” and “shake my sillies out”. It was so nice to experiment with our bodies and get our hearts racing. Jumping, clapping, shaking. All of these things can help us get out some energy when we feel negative emotions like worry, sadness and especially anger. After that we did some yoga together. We read a story called “Yoga for babies” and we each tried our best to contort our bodies into wonderful.shapes. L and S were super interested in this activity. I and M were smiling happily enjoying the zen atmosphere. R was watching her friends A and I do such poses as “downward dog” and “monkey”.

After a yummy snack time we decided to go out to the park. Even though it was only the second time that we went outside the gates, I think everyone did a wonderful job of holding the rope and walking. Y and I were holding on together very nicely. As we were walking we sang “walking in the jungle” but changed the words to “walking down the street”. We also of course remembered our road safety songs and put our hands up when we crossed the road.

At the park L and S were soaking up some sun. I noticed that there were some builders working on a house by the park, she pointed up and said “look!”. R was clapping along to the sound of the hammer, so musical.

Lucy, I, A and M were running and playing tag. “I'm going to get you” Lucy laughed. “Nooo” responded the girls screeching.

After we got back from the park it was time for one last story before lunchtime. We read “The Worrysaurus” by Chris Chatterton. The story was about how worry can take over our brain but it is important to think about positive thoughts and spend time with our friends, what a great message. We are lucky that we have lots of friends here at Ohana to keep us positive.

What do you do when you feel angry? Do you do some yoga? Meditation? Or do you shake your sillies out?

We hope you have a wonderful evening and we are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Love, Buds.
