Ahoy! Matey!
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
We started off our day with park time! “What's the sound?” L asked. “Is that a bee?” K wondered. “Buzzzzzzz!” E smiled. “I know it’s Semi. Cicada? My daddy caught a cicada. I love bugs and I have a book about bugs” N added. L looked at the tree. D said, “Oh!” and pointed out a roly-poly. We definitely feel summer when we go to the park as we hear the cicadas singing. Also, it is hot outside but we enjoy finding the bugs and playing with petals friends. Usually, when we go to the park, there is nobody so we feel like, it's “Petals park!” Isn’t it nice? Today was actually the last park day of summer school so when we left the park, we said, “Bye bye park!” Thank you park and see you in a while!
After we came back from the park, we had snack time and changed to our swim gear for the pool. “Splash!” Petals asked the teachers.. “No, I don't like splashing.” E commented. “But I like splashing.” L said. “Me, too!” N said, too. E was thinking and said, “A little bit of splashing is ok.” You know what we decided to make “A big splashing” ourselves. It is so much fun! Teachers explained that today was also the last day of pool. “Why?” Petals asked. Then teachers said that the pool needs to be dried and the teachers need to clean the pool so it takes a bit of time. We really enjoyed pool time this summer!
Today’s circle time was making pirate hats and eye patches! Sayaka started our circle time with the review.
Sayaka: What did you make with Evita?
Lo: Telescope!
E: Pirate telescope.
L: Treasure box.
E: Treasure. We’re going to be pirates.
Then Sayaka showed today’s book, Pirates Love Underpants by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort. It was a fun story and gave us the idea what else we should make…to be a pirate! The story was that the pirates crew were seeking golden underpants as their treasure! (It’s funny!) While petals were listening to the story, Sayaka pointed out what the pirates were doing.
Sayaka: Oh-oh! Look at them. The pirates are stealing the treasure from other pirates! Is this ok to do?
Then one of the petals shared his idea, “Hmm…it’s ok.” Sayaka asked him why he thinks it is ok to do. He said that it’s ok to take it. Sayaka wondered if he would be happy when Sayaka took his treasure. He took a while to think and said, “No, I don’t like that!” Sayaka agreed. So, she added that we look for treasure but we don’t take it from others. L commented, “Yeah, we don’t do that. That's not nice.”
D pointed out the map in the book. In the book, the pirates had a telescope like what we made yesterday and L said, “Telescope!” We also noticed that pirates put bandanas on. Teachers requested us to bring our bandana tomorrow.
After that Sayaka explained how to make them and we made our hats and eye patch. We are getting ready for a treasure hunt on Friday!
It’s been a great day and we were so hungry after we finished circle time. We were so proud of ourselves that we finished all the lunch. “I am 100%!” We show our empty lunch box to the teachers.
Thank you very much for the lovely day and see you all tomorrow!
PS. Please kindly bring the bandana for tomorrow (Treasure hunting activity). Thank you very much!
Love,
Petals
