Decoding the Die!
Monday, July 15th: Decoding the Die
Welcome back!
This week is all about “cracking the code”!
This morning, we practiced more on observation, listening and acting by using an activity die! It has six different commands on each side for us to act out! Woohoo!
On the front activity table today, we explored different musical instruments! I shared a mallet with his friend N before they began. Thanks for sharing I! That’s what great friends do! N was so excited to join in the fun and showed amazing fine motor control as he made his own beats with a huge smile!
In the free play area, there were trains and train tracks ready for building! Conductor I showed off his construction skills by making an awesome track for his trains to travel on! CHOO! CHOO! I really loves to build!
Once we cleaned up the toys, we got ready for snack time and then went for a stroll around the neighborhood to take in the sights! We went over towards Arisugawa park and saw that there was a highschool having a baseball game! So much fun! We spotted a big labrador dog out for a walk and then headed back before it was too hot outside.
Once we returned, we washed our hands and joined Brandon for our morning circle. He showed us a red die that had pictures of animals on each side with an action for us to do! There was a frog that said “jump”, a flamingo that said “balance”, a lion that said “roar”, a dinosaur that said “stomp”, a bear that said “crawl” and a hand that said “clap”! So many things for us to discover!
N was very curious about the die and explored the sides with their pictures. I also was very curious and excited to roll it, discovering our first action! It was the lion! ROAR! He showed us all how to imitate a lion with a big roaring voice! Next we rolled the flamingo and had the challenge of balancing on one foot! It was quite a challenge but I showed great effort and determination!
Decoding the actions of the mystery die was so much fun and a great way for us to move our bodies! By the way, what is your favorite animal action?
Thanks and have a great day!
Love,
Buds
