It's Camping Day!

Happy Camping Day, everyone! We brought marshmallows, cooked sausages and chips for today’s pretend camping. We also brought sleeping bags and blankets and we so ready to camp!  Excitement filled us more when we stepped into Flowers’ room with a tent in the middle of the room! Oh yes, today was camping day!

We had so much fun playing with our craft tents for the morning activities. It was great to have family counters to play with. Some of us created a camping site with other friends’ tents, which became a tower at the end! Ri built a bridge and a pool for his tent which his friends commented, “That’s so cool!”. On the other hand, Sh tried to put as many people as he could inside the tent. When asked why, he replied, “Because it’s Shabbat camping day. There are a lot of people coming to our house!”. O took a piece of green material and put his tent on it which gave it a cozy look!

CAMPING DAY

Our camping day began by having snack time around the campfire. We were surprised at how our pretend logs and fire looked so much like real fire! Guess what we had for snacks? We put our marshmallows and sausages on sticks and had fun time roasting them over our campfire! We sat around the campfire and enjoyed our special camping snack time😊

After snack time, we took out our blankets and rested in our tent. Wow, we loved our short rest time. Camping would not be complete without listening to a scary story! With all the lights off, Vieda used a flashlight to show us the storybook that talked about a goblin called Rumpelstiltskin. We were surprised but not scared.

Talking about nature, we thought of having a camping day as one of the activities that we can enjoy in nature. We folded our blankets, put on our binoculars and went out for an animal hunt game. Big thanks to Ak for assisting our teachers during this game. He helped us to make two teams and then hid the animals. At the end of the two rounds, he announced, “The score is 1-1 so, it’s a tie!”. Congratulations, everyone!

SHARING TIME

Ke knows a lot about camping. Today was a perfect timing for him to share with us how to pitch a tent.

Ke: I’m doing this, we need a stick and a map. Sticking there and here. We also need a rock and put it there on top. Here we cook eggs because it’s breakfast.

Questions:

Mi: How do you make fire?

Ke: With a stick.

T: Did you go to a hotel?

Ke: No, this is not hotel. This is a camp school.

Mi: Why do you always go camping?

Ke: Because my daddy likes camping very much. I like it, too!

Ta: What did you use for the fire?

Ke: I cut tree and then make the fire.

Ak: Did you plant trees? Because remember we need to plant trees when you cut down the trees.

Ke: Yes, we planted 10 trees.

Ty: How do you do a rock?

K: I do rock, ton ton, and then jump.

Th: Did you use a hammer?

K: Yes!

Ta: Why do we need fire there?

K: Because we need fire and sticks. I’m going to Niigata today for camping!

Sh: Oh, camping is so fun! I hope I can go real camping and be able sleep inside a tent!

Speaking of fun at camping, we asked our friends what they found the most fun part in today’s camping. Here’s what we shared:

Mi: Finding animals because I got excited.

Th: Scary story because I like scary stories.

Ty: Goblin story, but you see I am not scared.

Sh: Everything because I’ve never been camping, and it was my first time.

Ke: Goblin! I’m not scared!
Th: Can we do monster hunt next time?

T: I cannot join next time because I’m going to Okinawa. Maybe I’ll do bear hunt.

Yo: Finding animals because it was dark.

Mi: Eating snacks because it was so yummy!
E: Finding animals because it was dark.

R: All of them because I like all of them.

Y: Everything!
Ta: Finding animals because I didn’t see animals. It was dark!
O: Sausage and marshmallows because it’s yummy!

Ak: When they found the animals, I felt good!

The giggles and laughter talked so much about how much fun we had at our pretend camping today. Thank you so much for bringing camping snacks and blankets/sleeping bags.

Let’s see where our next Summer School adventure will take us to next week!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Lots of love,
