“Good Morning everyone! We had a fabulous morning playing with the Duplo blocks and Play dough. For our craft, we used the dot markers to color in our letters for the special song we will sing at our End of the Year party! When E arrived at school he brought a few toys from home to donate to Petals Class! E was very excited to show us how to play with the super truck! He also brought a puzzle of Japan and a set of lego blocks to add to our collection! We thanked E for the lovely toys and we packed away to get ready for our special Group Story time! Before we went down to Buds Class, we made a circle and quickly talked about how we should sit and to remind ourselves to use our nice listening ears!
We went to Buds Class and sat down together with our Buds and Flowers friends. Vieda sat down on our story tellers chair together with a Kami-Shibai (Paper theater). Today’s story was called, “Okiku, Okiku na-re! (Grow, Grow, Bigger!)” Vieda told us that when she counted to three, we needed to all shout “Grow! Grow! Bigger!” and when we did, something happened to the pictures in the book. They actually grew bigger! It was a very fun and interactive story time! We thanked Vieda for the wonderful time and we went back to Petals Class and quickly reviewed the feelings we could have before we sang the, “How Are You Today?” song.
Nimo: What are some feelings we can have?
R: Happy, silly!
M: Excited, scared monster coming!
Y: Bored.
Nimo: What is “bored”?
M: When you don’t have toys.
Nimo: Remember “nervous” what is that feeling like?
Mo: I don’t know.
T: (Put his hand on his chest) bump-bump, bump bump
Nimo: Good one! That’s right, when you are nervous your heart beats faster and louder! How about some other feelings?
Y: Surprise and proud!
M: This picture is “Sorry”, it means, “Gomen ne”
J: That one is tired! Tired is not sleeping.
Nimo: E would you like to play the Ukulele?
E: No thanks, maybe Y can play for me?
M: Today is E’s last day, it means he is going somewhere.
E: I’m going to Singapore, but I am still here.
M: I want to go to Singapore.
Y: My mommy went to Singapore yesterday.
We had fun singing the, “How Are You Today” song:
Y: Happy!
R: I’m hungry, I had a small breakfast.
J: I’m angry grr! I get angry when K does something.
T: Thirsty.
L: Excited!
M: Scared, because of the ghost.
R: Silly!
Y: I’m bored.
E: Good!
S: Silly!
After we had a short music time we sat down on the blue line to practice our “Do You Like”? Song. It is a tricky song for us to perform right now, but with practice we will be able to do it! After our rehearsal we had our snacks then went to Step Park. When we got back we asked E if there is one last game he would like to play together with his friends.
E: I want to play the Sumo game! I want to (partner) with R!
While our friends were getting ready for the sumo game, Nimo showed us a few animal toys. They were the same animals as the animal dance we are doing with Maryna. Today, we had a busy morning so Maryna couldn’t come to practice, so we quickly reviewed the animals and practiced their movements! We had a grand time playing Sumo game with our friends! Although Nimo told us he was going to win, we were much stronger today and we all won the game. R said, “E won today and it’s his last day, that’s the best day to win!”
Thank you all for another fabulous day! Thank you E for coming to Petals Class and spending your precious two months with us! We were so happy to have you and we had so much fun together! We wish you all the best in your school in Singapore and please stop by to say hi when you are in Japan!
Love,
Petals
