Do you want to do the same job as your Mommy or Daddy?

Journal 5/23/2024

Hello everyone and welcome back to another day among our friends of the Flowers’ class. We were super duper busy today and we can’t wait to share with you our last adventures. Thank you for reading our journal!

CIRCLE TIME

After coming back from our outing at Step Park, we washed our hands and sat in the circle. We started by singing a slightly modified version of our “Hello song”; instead of taking turns to tell our names, we spoke about the jobs we want to have when we grow up! We heard a lot of friends talking about doctors, designers, artists, vets, police officers and so on.

Then, our teacher asked us to read the Question of the Day: “Do you want the same job as your Mommy or Daddy?” Some said yes, others no.

T.: I want the same job as Daddy. He takes a stick then he hits a ball like this, and it goes super far away.

C.: I want to be like both, a designer. Mommy is a designer and daddy is a teacher designer.

T.: I want to copy. Mommy’s job is advise people.

Th.: Like a special lawyer?

S.: No, but mommy says, copying job is ok.

M.: Dad is cooking, and he makes chicken. I want to make chicken too. My Daddy’s job is cleaning my room and I want to copy daddy and clean too. Mommy’s job is… I forgot.

H.: No. My daddy’s job is to give a block, so he gets money, then the store people buy the block, but they don’t know the price. Also, daddy does programming.

Th.: Dad’s job is lawyer and Mommy’s a scientist. No because the first one is nice but it’s not easy, but a scientist’s job is easy. You just put potion together and it’s done.

A.: My mom’s office is called MIT, but I don’t know it. Mom is not working because she is taking care of baby.

E.: I want to become a lawyer like my dad, but I like my Mom’s job.

A.: Daddy is police, I want to be police.

R.: It’s ok to not want the same job as Mommy and Daddy.

Th.: Sometimes it’s not good so it’s ok to not want the same job.

E.: If it is too boring you can change jobs.

M.: People want to be the same as Mommy and Daddy. I don’t know if it’s a job I want to become.

TEACH ME HOW

Our last session of Teach me How for this year had S. presenting us how to make chocolate balls. He came to Flowers class with a huge bag filled with ingredients and was ready to show us how to make them! He started by showcasing what he had with him.

S.: Today we’re going to make chocolate balls. This is coconut and we can also put sprinkles on the top. We can also use cacao, milk with vanilla, biscuits crumps, sugar, special butter and this is the bowl to mix them.

Then he showed us how to mix the ingredients together until it became a uniform ball. He added:

S.: The last step is to put coconut or sprinkles. Now it will be so yummy!! Do you want to make yours? Good thing we have a lot! Everyone sit down please and you can make 3 balls.

All our Flowers friends had the chance to mix the balls with the sprinkles and coconut flakes. They enjoyed a lot having their hands covered in chocolate. A. even said: “I want to lick it! Yummy”.  Then we asked him some questions about his chocolate balls:

H.: How you make coconut.

S.: we buy it at the market.

K.: How do you make the chocolate.

S.: It’s a long story but it’s from cacao from Brazil.

Th.: Why do you put sprinkles on?

S.: Because it’s yummy!

R.: When you make it?

Sh.: Yesterday at my home!

Right after that, we washed our hands and got ready for our lunch time. Remember friends, we need to ask our mommies and daddies if it is ok to eat chocolate balls at home.

See you tomorrow for more adventures.

Lots of Love,

Children from the Flowers Class.
