Farewell to our beloved friends!

Happy Thursday everyone, we had a wonderful farewell party for our beloved friends today! We had a short free play time this morning. We played with the play doh as usual, the toy cars, our handmade city, and worked on our Mikoshi art.

When our guests arrived, we packed everything away and got ready for our special party! N, M, A, and K sat down on the special chairs and we welcomed them to Petals Class! Our teachers asked A and N what song they would like to sing before the party started. A really likes the Good Morning Song and N wanted to sing ABC with his friends. We enjoyed our music time and then we had our teachers say a message for A and N, the first one was Axel. He used to be N and A’s teacher in Buds and wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to his friends. The next was Brandon from Buds Class. He came and told A and N that all of Buds Class will miss them. Then each of our Petals teachers had their turn, along with a round of hugs!

M showed us pictures of N’s new school. All the pictures were amazing, they have a playground and animals to feed there! Then she read us one of Norbert’s favorite books, “Here We Are” by Oliver Jeffers. It is a wonderful book about the planet we live on and the wonderful things around us! After the lovely story time, K had a fun game prepared for us. She asked us, “Do you like Freeze Dance?” and we all shouted, “Yes!”. Freeze dance is such a fun game and it is definitely one of our favorites! K played a catchy tune for us and we enjoyed dancing and freezing!

The next part of the party was gift giving. Both A and N had prepared lovely goodie bags for us! Our teachers told us to keep the gifts sealed and open them up when we get home. Can’t wait to see what is inside! Petals Class also prepared a special gift for A and N. We made a beautiful placemat with lots of pictures of us! We can be sure A and N won’t forget about us!

We finished up our party with a group photo and singing our farewell song. Once M and K went home, we did a very short circle time. Nimo started by showing us a picture of a store, “Have you been here before?”. We weren’t quite sure, all we knew was that it was a shop. Next, he showed us a picture of some berries and seeds.

J: Blueberry? Grapes?

E: It’s apple!

M: Maybe it’s an orange.

T: Chocolate!

L: Juice?

N: Coffee beans.

K: Change color?

Nimo told us this “drink” is made from these seeds. First, they pick the berries, then turn them brown. Then they put it into a machine and turn it into tiny tiny pieces. Nimo had a batch of this mystery “powder” and he passed it around for us to smell.

E: I can smell it!

K: Tea?

R: I want to smell it too!

L: Yucky! I don’t like it!

E: Yummy coffee! Like chocolate!

R: Yummy!

J: My mommy makes coffee. She puts that in the cup.

Our friends seemed to have already figured out what it was! Nimo took a fresh pack of his coffee grounds and handed it to us to see and smell. Then he brought a pot full of water, it wasn’t hot water because that would be dangerous. He showed us how people pour water on to the coffee grounds and out comes the brown coffee! The people that work at coffee shops and make coffee are called, “Baristas”!

After our short circle time, we had our snacks then had tons of fun playing at Step Park!

Thank you for another fabulous day! Have a wonderful evening and we will see you on Friday!

Please remember Friday is Early Dismissal and it will also be our Evacuation Drill. Please come pick us up at Step Park at 11:30!

Love,

Petals
