Shapes, Shapes everywhere!

Monday, November 4th - Shapes, Shapes Everywhere!

Welcome back to a brisk and sunny Monday!

This morning on the front activity table, we enjoyed sensory bins with items inside that can be found in nature! I and A both enjoyed picking up pinecones and sticks with the cup scissors. What a great fine motor exercise!

On the back activity table was our perfectly purple play doh, ready for sculpting! S and L set out to stamp as many cookies as they could! I came by and soon all three were working on rolling balls of clay together!

Over on the small table, Y and E worked on their donut mandalas. Y showed great control as he applied glue all around the line to complete a circle before adding colorful scrap papers to design his. E was determined to add glue in her own way by stamping around the circle before adding colorful ones of her own also! S helped E by passing her some pieces to paste down. Way to go, friends!

Pretty soo, it was time for us to start cleaning up and join circle time together! We sang our morning song and then Brandon asked us to help him find shapes inside a big book of shapes! Inside was a wheel and it could be spun to discover new shapes! I was so excited to find a square and said with a big clear voice, “SQUARE!”. We also danced to a new shape song together! We began to look for some shapes as we danced and Isa pointed to a large triangle shape on the wall saying “TRIANGLE!”. Nice work recognizing shapes!

Shortly after, we read the story “peanut butter and jelly” together. As we read, we discovered the steps to make a super yummy delicious peanut butter sandwich! The story quickly turned into a song as Brandon sang with Liezel and Lucy through each step, even the best part-eating it all up! YUM!

Once we washed up and munched our snacks all gone, we set out for the park! We walked to the new green space beside the school and kicked balls together there! Y loved sitting on the bench like a big kid and nearby, R discovered a cool white helicopter flying by! WHOOSH! I picked up a big green leaf and told the teachers, “like triangle”! So neat!

We decided to leave and go over to the pond together to check out if there were any animal friends waiting for us to arrive. L was fascinated by the water and carefully looked around for any fish or frogs that may be excited to see us. He really loved looking at the tall grass and walking along the bridge with his friends!

What a busy day! Thanks for sharing it with us and have a great evening!

Love,

Buds
