Learning movements!

We greeted our friends and teachers in the morning and had a great time doing some fun activities in the morning. Our sensory tub was filled with water and our teachers put bouncy balls inside. We used the paper scoopers to carefully lift the floating bouncy balls out of the water. When we scooped them out, we noticed that each one had a letter on the back of it. We read the letters, we tried to scoop more until our paper scooper broke. We played with the play dough for the remainder of our free play time then packed away for our circle time.

We started by dancing to our favorite tunes like, “The Floor Is Lava”, “Five Little Monster Jumping On The Bed”, “Baby Shark”. We then reviewed some of the movements we learned yesterday.
L: Zig zag.
E: Side to side.
R: Catch!
E: And Throw.
L: Wave.
D: That one is up.
J: Down!
P: Throw and catch.
D: I can try?
T: I can throw and catch, watch!
K: Me too!
E: I want to try too!
Before we learned more movements, we read a story, “When Nana Dances”. It was a lovely story about different people moving and dancing in their own unique way.
K: What is that? (Pointed at a girl twirling”)
Evita: She is twirling.
Ko Twirling!
L: The grandma is dancing too.
Evita: Who else dances?
E: P and M.
K: Ballerina.

We saw lots of different kinds of movement in the story so we tried doing them in the classroom. Our teachers made a sign so we could see an example. After we went through all 12 actions, out teachers played a song and we chose which actions we wanted to do. We danced three songs and our teachers asked us which action we liked the best.
T: Stomp
J: Tap
L: Shake
D: Shrug your shoulders
P: Twirl
R: Swing
E: Swing
K: Shrug your shoulders.

Thank you all for another fabulous day! Have a great evening and see you all again tomorrow!

Love,
Petals
