The Snowman

Good morning Buds families! It was quite a cold morning but it turned into a warm one after the sun came out.

Today, in the free play area we had the light table which Y and S were so interested in. S made big noises as he picked up the paper stars and felt their texture. Y smiled happily as she put the stars on the light table and made them twinkle.

We also had the kitchen toys out. Y and A enjoyed some pretend play where they had a tea party and gave each other tea and sipped it graciously.

On the back table we had our ongoing coloring for thanksgiving. A enjoyed coloring the big turkey and L loved experimenting colors one by one.

At the front table we had the connecting people. I was making the figures hold hands as he laughed to himself.

Our eldest friends M and I went upstairs to play with the Petals friends because from January they will be moving up. We heard from the petals teachers Nimo and Esmi that they enjoyed playing with the connecting blocks.

Before we made a circle or circle time we had a dancing party. A showed us some of her moves as Y ran around the room with a smile on her face. L asked “touch star” he was so interested in the winter decorations the teachers had put up this morning. He said “one more time” and he tried again to touch the stars hanging from the ceiling.

At circle time, we reviewed what we did yesterday with paper and snow but this time we made snow ourselves, exercising fine motor skills as we ripped the paper up and threw it up in the air to make it snow. M was a pro at throwing the paper into the air and S loved watching it fall down around him.

Then Lucy showed us a bathball.

“Pink!” said I with excitement as he jumped. We all watched in wonder as the bathbomb fizzled and bubbled.

“Bubble!” said l as i made the fizzling gesture with her hands. After some dancing the bathbomb had made the water a red color and inside was something tiny and magical. It was a tiny snowman. Brandon showed our friends the snowman and they all curiously touched it and felt its white squidgy body.

We moved our bodies into a circle like a snow man and had fun jumping around. Y and A had so much fun jumping in a ball shape. We read the story of the Snowman by Raymond Briggs. In this wordless story we saw how a little boy made a snowman and it came to life and then they went flying in the sky.. How magical. We practised dancing the song from the snowman tv movie “we’re walking in the air”

Before we went to the  park we did the earthquake evacuation drill. This time we touched our heads and learnt that our heads are the most important part of our bodies so we must protect them. We practised covering our heads and then went under the table for extra protection. Wow, the Buds were so great at keeping themselves safe under the table and quickly left the room wearing their safety helmets. Being prepared is so important when it comes to emergencies.

After snacktime we all went for a walk to the firehouse. Last week we were unable to go to the firestation on the field trip so we went together to see the firetrucks. We walked past the fountain where everyone pointed. We went up the hill and saw the gorgeous red momiji and we started to look for some things that were red. “Look! Red car!” said I as she pointed. Y said “fire truck!” as we turned the corner and came face to face with the fire station. We looked at all of the equipment that the fire fighters have like a hose and ladders. Then we took some time to take some pictures dressed as firefighters in the photo character board. Everyone showed the teachers their lovely smiles as they said “peek a boo” and put their faces through. What photogenic children we have in the Buds class! Superstars.

After some snaps it was time to walk back down to school and have some lunch! Everyone was sooo tired that most of our friends slept very quickly after eating.

Have a great evening! See you tomorrow everyone!

Love,

Buds
