Ohana Fire Station Visit!

Thank you moms and dads for bringing our raincoat and rainboots to school today! Luckily for us, the rain lightened up a lot by the time we headed to the Fire Station. Before we left Ohana, we ate our snacks and went to the toilet because we would be out for a while. We put on our coats and our ponchos then changed our shoes. We quickly reviewed the rules when walking on the road, especially today, because we were going on a long walk in our rain gear. We enjoyed walking in the rain and sang, “We’re Going To The Fire Station”. We got there before Flowers Class did so they let us into the garage and we looked at the fire trucks while we waited for Flowers to arrive.

Flowers came a few minutes later and we started with a group picture together with the firefighters! The fire fighters started by talking to us about what a firetruck does and all the cool gadgets they have stored in the compartments! We were very surprised to see there were so many hoses! They have a hose for every kind of situation! They also told us the pump which shoots out the water is so fast, it could fill our bath tubs very quickly! After a quick tour of the fire engine, they let us try sitting in the driver’s seat! At first, they let us choose if we wanted to sit in the driver seat or in the back, but everyone wanted the driver seat! We each got a turn to sit, hold the steering wheel and smile for the camera!

We gave the “Thank you card” we made for our beloved firefighters. Buds were supposed to come with us, but they couldn’t make it because of the rain. So we handed Bud’s Thank You card to the firefighters for them. We said our goodbyes then headed back to Ohana. On our way back, we stopped by “Cheeky Cheeky” (Iki Iki Plaza) Park to play.

When we got back to school we had a short chat about our excursion today.

Nimo: Did you like going to the fire station?

Petals: Yes!

Nimo: Was it hot or cold outside?

B: Cold!

P: I don’t like cold.

Nimo: Why do you think we went to the fire station?

R: See the firefighters.

L: And the fire truck.

P: Because we need the fire truck.

S: (To say) Hi!

T: We take picture.

R: Say, thank you!

Nimo: Do you see this calendar? What month is it?

D: November!

Nimo: What number is this one in the red?

P: September.

L: 3, 2.

M: 3! 2!

R: I go to Hong Kong this number.

Nimo got the number plates and started with 20.

L: That is… two, zero.

Nimo: Together, is it?

P: 20!

We carefully counted up until we got to 23.

R: That number means what?

The number 23 on the calendar was red, and that meant it was a special day called, Kinrou Kansha. It is a day we thank our community workers like firefighters and police officers for keeping us safe!

Nimo: What do you think will happen if we don’t have any firefighters?

M: No fire fighters?

R: Fire get bigger and bigger and bigger!

M: So big!

L: There's a big one(fire) with a dragon inside!

Nimo: Who has a house?

J: *Nods*

D: I have a house.

M: Near Ohana.

P: I like my house, my house is not too big.

D: My house is so bigger!

Our fire fighters help keep our houses safe from the fire, so we went to the fire station today to say Thank you for all of their hard work!

We finished our day doing our “Colors Song” then ate our lunch!

Thank you all for another fabulous day! Hope you all have a great evening and we will see you all again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
