Marvelous Monday Moments: Exploring Family and Blending Love!
We started our day with putting puzzle pieces to finish up our World Map with Sayaka. Evita on the other hand practiced counting bugs with us. We also have our hands-on Clay Name Stamping.
For our circle time, A led us in our lively Good Morning song, bringing smiles to everyone as they said their names with a silly voice. We also practiced our surprise song for Dad’s Day led by Nemo. We then proceeded to our Lifebook Show and Tell for the day- E, M, and A.
E started with a picture of Mom and Dad holding Mom’s tummy.
E: Look! This one! Baby inside, my mommy and daddy!
Evita: Inside? (pointing at Mom’s tummy)
E: Me!
2nd picture: picture of newborn E
E: This is E! This fun? That’s cute!
Evita: Where are babies born?
J: In the ambulance!
A/M: Hospital!

E: Mom, Dad, grandpa, grandma, grandma, and grandpa!
M showed us his 1st picture that he picked. It was taken when he was swimming with his mom.
M: I went to the swimming pool today! I was in London. I made this mask. (referring to the other picture next to the 1st picture)
2nd picture: picture of baby M dressed as a bunny during easter.
M: I’m a bunny! Easter!
3rd picture: picture of M with his birthday cake.
M: My birthday cake! Rainbow. It’s a bit sticky.
J: Did you blow the candle?
M: Maybe not.
A’s 1st picture was with his dad on a go-kart.
A: I’m driving a car with daddy!
2nd picture: picture of mom, dad, and A in front of a house surrounded with snow.
A: Me, dad, mom. E is in mommy’s belly. Snow!
3rd picture: picture of A’s cousins
A: A, E, C, my cousins from the UK.
J: A has too many cousins!
E: I have 60-70 cousins.
A: That’s a lot!
For Petals Class the whole month of January is all about self discovery and family connections. As we about to conclude our exploration of family, Evita reviewed all the things we’ve learned. After identifying all family members, she asked where do families live? She then asked the students to make their own house by adorning shiny stickers and gluing the Family Paper Chain we made last week inside.
A: Can I take this one home?
J: I want to bring this one home!
A/H: ( both pointed which paper and stickers to use)
For our story time today, Evita read “ My Blended Family”, a heartwarming story centered around Olivia’s blended family. She introduced her family- dad, stepmom, stepbrothers and stepsisters. Olivia’s story taught Petals Class the valuable lesson of “blending”- embracing diverse family dynamics, fostering relationships, and learning to care for one another.
Evita: Some families have two moms and two dads.
A: I only have one mom and one dad!
L: Me too!
J: Two sisters!
A: Two brothers!
As the day unfolds, Petals Class are not just making maps and counting bugs but also learned the important lesson of acceptance and love.
Love,
Petals
