Do you know from where your energy comes from?

January 25th,

Hello everyone and welcome back to another adventure with our Flowers friends. Please enjoy today’s journal!

MORNING ACTIVITIES

Mornings are always fun! In Flowers Class we get to make some nice crafts and to play a lot. We didn’t make anything new today because our friends were busy decorating and improving their Oni Mask for the upcoming Setsubun celebration. We realized that the masks would be even funnier if we added some other decorations, T. and C. put some feathers on his head while M. thought that using strings to make “spaghetti hairs” would be fun. We will need them to scare away the Oni that might come to our classroom! On another table, B. also worked a bit on her Hagoita, she put a lot of work into coloring it fully!

Of course, we also had a lot of toys to play with. We had some magnetic blocks, some wooden ones to measure our heights. H. even told the teachers “Look, this one is taller than Cameron”. That’s silly! We had some cork blocks on which we could nail shapes to make them look like things we want to build. T. even said:” I am making a bridge so we can cross the river”.

Before going to Step Park, we had dance class with Maryna. It was a rehearsal for our Father’s Day party, everybody did great, and we are looking forward to showing you our cool moves.
Then we headed out to run, play catch, use our ropes to make houses and so at Step Park. It was nice having a bit of sunlight during winter!

CIRCLE TIME

We started our circle time by having some friends sharing about some things.

T. started by showing a picture of him where he is dressed as a line pilot.
T.: I went to Kidzania and I get in an airplane. I drove it and this is Pilot clothes.
E.: I went to the airplane too but it was just pretend.
C.: I went there too.
R.: How did you go bus or car or train or bicycle?
T.: Walking is too far, I went by airplane.

B. also wanted to share about a special bag that she brought from home.
B.: When I ate a crepe, I took out the seeds from the strawberry and Mommy put them in this bag.
Then, she handed the bag to her other Flowers friends so they could see. Meanwhile, they asked her questions:
T.: How did you get the strawberry seeds out?
B.: With my fingers I take it out.
E: Where did you get it from?
B.: I don’t know, my mommy got it.

Then, after our friend finished, Axel asked us to get up. He played a song and we danced on it. He asked us: “Do you feel tired?”

A.: I am tired.
T.: I am not tired because at home I need two dances to be tired.
E.: It’s like a fast exercise. I feel my heart, it’s going fast.
A.: Mine is super-duper fast.

Then our teacher asked us another question: Why do you think that you’re tired, or not tired?
R.: Because someone was sleeping late or not sleeping late.
E.: Because someone keeps our bodies warm if not you turn into a statue.
C.: Everyone had different thinking and different bodies.
A.: I am tired because I used too much energy.
V.: Because it’s Friday.

A. said something really interesting there. But what is that energy that we have in our bodies?

T.: Energy is to make you more faster.
A.: Something that you use to be fast and strong, you can do anything you want. When you use all your energy you get tired, and you lose some energy.
B.: When you eat food, you get energy and sleep too.
H.: I know about the planet energy.

Then it was time for our question of the day. Our teacher asked some friends to get up and try to read it (Do you know where your energy comes from?).
A.: Is energy from?
V.: Do you know Father’s Day?
Y.: Do you know where your energy comes from?
T.: Cabbage and fruits.
S.: From sports!
A.: Healthy food comes from?
C.: When we sleep, when we eat, we get energy.
Y.: Broccoli.
E.: It comes from broccoli, spinach, carrot, and sweet potatoes!
B.: We need some sugar but not a lot because it’s not healthy. If you eat too much you keep it in your body. If it is too much it can cause a stroke and your brain is not gonna work anymore.
A.: You can get energy from sugar but if it’s just a little it is still good food that gives you energy.
B.: It can make you look old.
R.: They need the sugar for the water.

What about fats, can you get energy from fats?
A.: Fat is like really big.
E.: Hum, a little energy, I think.

It seems like our little friends don't know a lot about "fats" yet. We can maybe ask our parents tonight and see what they think about it!
But, before that, talking about food so much made our little tummies hungry, we sang a song and went for our lunches.

Thank you so much for following our daily adventures and see you tomorrow for more!

Lots of love,
Children from the Flowers Class.
