Who else is in your family?

Good morning everyone! We had another fabulous day full of smiles and laughter! We started our amazing day doing some puzzles! Some were pretty easy to do and some were quite tricky! With the help from our friends and teachers we were able to complete them! Nimo was sitting at the puzzle table with us giving us hints if we needed it. He was also making a puzzle piece for us! He had a piece of wood and a special tool called sandpaper. He let us touch it with our gentle hands and we noticed it felt very rough. We watched as he used the sandpaper on the piece of wood to make the shape he wanted and to smooth out the edges. We also noticed the nice smell of wood! Evita had a few wind up beetles! We wanted to race the beetles, but one wasn't working. We decided to choose one animal toy and race with them ourselves!

After our morning free play time, we sang some songs together with A’s guitar! We sang our, “Good Morning Song”, “Family Fingers”, “Dad’s Day Song”, and “How Are You Today”. We enjoyed our singing session then welcomed Sayaka to the circle to read us a story! “The Big House And The Little House” by Yoshi Ueno and Emiko Fujishima. It was a wonderful little story about a Big Bear living in a Big house and the Little Mouse living in the Little house. Both of them lived nearby, but they always went in different directions so they never had a chance to meet. Some days they would feel lonely and wish they could have someone to have tea with. One lucky day, the two meet and enjoy having tea time in the evenings and the two never felt lonely again. Hooray!

Sayaka: Do you have a house?

N: Yes!

Sayaka: What was the mouse doing?

N: Making bread.

Sayaka: What was the bear doing?

E: Fold the trees!

Sayaka: What is, “lonely”?

R: Sad

Sayaka: Would you be sad if you didn’t have a family?

A: Sad…

E: I’m okay. I’m strong, I’m not sad.

We really enjoyed the story and then it was time for Sayaka’s circle time. She lined up a few people figurines.

Sayaka: *Point’s at one of the figures* Is this mommy?

S: Mommy?

Sayaka: Who is, “husband”?

E: Me!

N: Dad!

Sayaka: Who is the brother?

R: Is this me?

Sayaka: Can a brother be a girl?

N: E is a sister.

Sayaka: Who has grandma and grandpa?

Petals: Me!!!

Sayaka: Who is a, “cousin”?

E: I can find the cousin. This animal! Elephant!

Sayaka: Can a cousin be an animal?

R: Ya…kind of.

Sayaka: Do you have a cousin?

T: *Raised hand*

Sayaka handed us our life books and we looked through them to find pictures of our siblings, cousins and grandparents.

A: I don’t have cousins, I only have dad.

S: This is my grandpa. Look, A!

N: This is my grandpa and grandma!

After our circle time we had our snacks and then played at the park!

Thank you all for another wonderful day! Have a great evening and see you all again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
