Old McDonald

Morning Free Play:

We started our morning with a fun painting activity! On one of the tables, there were pictures of farm animals and we got to choose one or two that we wanted to paint. Then we went to our art table, put on our smocks, and used the sponges to stamp some colors on our animals! Many of us really enjoyed the feeling of paint on our hands! Once our paintings were finished our teachers put them on the drying rack hoping they will all be dry by circle time.

Once we were done painting, we could either go play with the play dough or the color peg board. On the board was a picture and we used the same color pegs to fill in the picture. It was tricky at first, but once we got the hang of it and saw the picture come together, we were very motivated to finish it!

Some of us went to the play mat to build something with the lego or we went to our Petal’s Theater and played with the hand puppets. Sayaka also read us a few stories in the library! When everyone was finished with their paintings, we helped our teachers pack away the toys and we had our snack.

Obstacle Course:

Seeing how much we enjoyed the obstacle course yesterday, our teachers decided to do another one today, but make it a little more difficult. While we were busy reading books in the library, our teachers turned the whole classroom into a giant obstacle course! We all sat down near the starting line and waited for our teacher to tell us when to start. When it was our turn to go we first walked carefully on the wavy tactile path then went into a small tunnel! When we got out there was a small ball pit with letters on them. We had to find three of them and put them in the bowl. Once we got all three, we had to figure out a way to hold three balls with our two hands. It was very tricky, but we all found a way to do it. Carrying our three balls we had to crawl under a table and hop on some mat to our goal which was a bucket. We tossed all of our balls inside and we waited for all of our other friends to put their balls inside the bucket too! After we did one run, we were very confident we could go faster next time, so we did another run!

After we did our obstacle course, we danced to “Dem Bones” again and reviewed the names of our body parts.

Circle time:

We held our friends' hands and did some silly movements, like shaking our hands, putting our hands up and down, and swinging our arms. We sang our Good Morning Song and Nimo read us a story. “Old McDonald Had A Farm” illustrated by Pam Adams. We know the song Old McDonald very well, so we sang together as we looked at the pictures in the book. Once we finished reading the book, Nimo got our paintings we did this morning. We sang, “Old McDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O, on that farm he had a…”. Then Nimo showed us one of our paintings.

L: Duck!

I: Quack Quack!

Nimo: Who painted this one? (Rooster)

S: Me! Rooster! Cockadoodle-doo!

Y: Cockadoodle-doo!!!

Nimo: How about this one? (Cow)

I: I! A cow! Moo!!!

Y: It’s so dark…

Nimo: Hint. Baaa baaa.

Y: Sheep!

It was a fun little activity! After our circle time, we got changed into our swimwear and headed to the office for pool play!

Pool Time:

Another great day in the pool! The cool water from the sprinkler feels amazing in this hot weather! We called the sprinkler “rain” and when it stopped we asked our teachers to make it rain again! When it did start raining we held out our cups and containers to slowly collect water.

Thank you all for another fabulous day! Hope you all stay cool and we will see you again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
