Art Gallery Day!
Art Exhibition Day!!!
Today was a super busy day! In the morning we all worked very hard to turn our classroom into an art gallery! There were a few art projects that we need to finish up! Once all of our crafts were done, we enjoyed a short free play time. We played with the play dough like usual, on the play mat we had animal toys to play with! Out on our balcony, we had our sensory table with ice cube shapes! Luckily it was steaming hot outside so the cold ice cubes in our hands felt amazing! We also use our pointer fingers to flick the ice and watch it slide all the way to the other side!
We really wanted to go to the park today and we were hoping we might be able to get a few minutes to run around before the rain came, but as soon as we put on our smocks, we saw people with their umbrellas out on the street. Bummer! Now that it was raining, we stayed inside and had music and dance time! We sang a few of our favorite songs and danced a lot too! After our music time, we sat down with Sayaka for a short storytime, today she read us, “Polar Bear’s Underwear” by Tupera Tupera. When Sayaka finished her story Nimo was able to get our “Little Sculptors” table ready! All week we have been using collage materials to mold all kinds of creative things with the play dough! Today was our Art Exhibition and we wanted to make one sculpture for our visitors! Each of us got a chunk of play dough and we were free to craft! Some of us stuck with the things we have been making all week like snakes and some of us tried making something entirely new! Once we were happy with our creation, Nimo wrote our name on a piece of paper and what we made. Now we were all ready! We had our Water Color Letters, Shape Drawings, “PLAY” group art, Tanabata group project, and our Little Sculptures!
There was just one more thing we needed to do before we headed off to see the other classes. We remembered the virtual tour we went on with Sayaka. Nimo reminded us of the rules inside the museum. Indoor Voices, Walking Feet, and most importantly, Looking Eyes and no touching. We also remembered what all the visitors were doing in the museum, they were taking lots of pictures! Our teachers prepared a picture of a camera and we colored them in to make our own unique camera! Once we were done coloring our teachers attached a string of yarn on it so we could hang the camera on our necks! Now we were ready to visit Flowers and Bud’s Art Exhibits!
We first went to Flowers Class to visit their gallery first. When we entered all of Flowers Class greeted us! They also had lots of unique arts and crafts! In front of each project, there were a few Flowers friends ready to give us an explanation of what they did and why. It was amazing to see their unique creations! We thanked Flowers and headed down to Buds Class to see their gallery. They had lots of artwork inspired by Keith Haring and Frida Kahlo! We were very impressed with their works too! Now it was finally our turn! Buds and Flowers came to visit and admired all of our masterpieces! Thank you all for a great Art Week!
When we got back Nimo read us a story, “Elmer’s Special Day” by David Mckee. Elmer is a colorful patchwork elephant, and once a year there is a very special day in the jungle called Elmer’s Day. This is the day when all the animals get to decorate themselves in unique ways and then showed their creativity off in a parade! It was just like what we were doing! All week we worked on unique artworks then today we showed them off to our friends! After we finished the story we lined up and washed our hands for lunch!
Thank you for another fabulous week! Have a great weekend and we will see you all again on Monday for a week packed with Drama!
Love,
Petals
