Welcome to Petals Class Summer School!
Happy Wednesday everyone! We started our day by greeting our new friends from Buds Class, S, E, and T! We are so happy to have them join us and we had a great time playing together! We had a table with a threading activity, another table had the cash register to play with, and on our art table we continued making our medals. Yesterday, we cut and painted our medals, today we used a paintbrush to spread some glue and then stick sparkles on it!
We packed away our toys and then washed our hands for snack time! After our snacks, we gathered at the library and Nimo read us a story as we waited for our friends to finish up. Today he read, “Thelma The Unicorn” by Aaron Blabey. It was a wonderful story about Thelma the pony who wanted to be a unicorn. One day her wish came true and she became super famous, but she soon learned that being famous is tough and lonely. In the end, she decided to go back to being a regular pony and be with her best friend Otis who thinks she's great, just the way she is.
After the story, we gathered in a circle and sang some songs together! We first started with our, “Good Morning” song! All of our friends did a fabulous job singing their names! We sang a few other songs like ABC, Wheels on the Bus, and Baby Shark! After some music time, Nimo read us our circle time book, “What Do Grown-Ups Do All Day?” by Dawid Ryski.
Nimo: Do you know what your mommy and daddy are doing?
M: He’s working and drinking coffee.
E: Working.
I: My daddy!?
Inside the book, we saw colorful pictures of some of the jobs people do. There were lots of jobs we knew like, Fire Fighter, Police Officer, Teacher, and Astronaut. There were also lots of jobs we didn’t think existed, like a Snowboarder, Architect, and Drummer. We focused on Snowboarder because it fits our theme about Physical activities. We didn’t know some people slid on the mountain all day and sometimes go to faraway places to do competitions. Today we talked a little bit about Soccer Players and how to play soccer. The most important thing to remember when playing soccer is we can’t use our hands. We were hoping we could play some soccer at the park, but we were worried about the rain. So instead of playing soccer at the park, we practiced kicking the ball in class!
The sky looked like it was going to start raining at any moment, so we took a quick walk to the temple and our teachers gave us 10 minutes to run around! We tried running a marathon around the tree! When we got back to school we kicked a ball into the goal and then washed our hands for lunchtime!
Thank you all for another fantastic day! Hope you all have a lovely evening and we will see you all again tomorrow!
Love,
Petals
