A busy day indoors!

Rainy Monday!

We wondered if the rainy season in Japan has started. With the wet weather outside, we were sure we weren’t going to be able to go to the park today. In the morning we sat down with either Marjorie or Sayaka to finish our Letters and Self-portraits. After we were done with our crafts we enjoyed doing some puzzles with our friends or playing with the magnet shapes and tiny dinosaurs! We also had wooden blocks we could use on the play mat. We helped each other pack our toys away then had our snacks as usual and started our circle time.

We practiced our songs to sing for the party. Then did some numeracy with our friends. Nimo showed us cards with numbers on it, we had from 0 to 9. Counting from 1 to 9 was easy, Y asked, “What about 10?”. E had an idea, “We can put 0 and 1 together”, C added, “If you open it, it’s not 10. You have to glue it together”. We didn’t have any glue nearby so we just used our hands to put the numbers together. We counted from 10 all the way to 40!

Next, we played a fun little memory game. Nimo had colored bean bags and a blanket. He wanted us to memorize which colors were on the floor, then Nimo would cover the bean bags with the blanket and took a few of them away. Our job was to tell our teachers which colors were missing! We started the activity with only two colors, it was very easy. Gradually, our teachers added a new color to the mix until we had a total of 7 bean bags! It was very tricky, but a great workout for our brains!

Before we had our gym class Nimo read us a book, “I Want My Hat Back” by Jon Klassen. The book was about a bear who was looking for his hat, Nimo asked us if Petals could help the Bear find his hat. As the bear went around the forest asking his animal friends if they had seen his hat. Our Petals friends quickly noticed where the hat was! With our help, the bear was able to get his hat back and we were glad!

After our circle time, we enjoyed having Gym Class! We did lots of stretching, jumping, exercises, and animal movements! We finished our busy day with our favorite Sumo game!

Thank you for another fabulous day! Have a lovely evening and we will see you all tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
