Practicing for our Party!

It was beautiful Wednesday! We had lots of fun with our friends in Petals class.

As we are going to have our special party soon, we practiced our dance with Maryna today. After we cleaned up our toys from free play time, we gathered all together in the circle. Sayaka started today’s circle time explaining that we will do more practice for the End of Year Party. Then C wondered…

C: What is practice?

Sayaka: Practice is preparing for the party because we will have special guests! You know your mommy and/or daddy are coming for our party.

E: And they’ll have pictures

C: We’ll do funny faces? Like this? *Made funny face

Petals and Teachers: Haha!

Sayaka: Maybe funny and serious face!

C: haha.

Then Sayaka showed one of books from our shelf. It was Thelma THE Unicorn by Aaron Blabey. Thelma is a pony who dream being gorgeous unicorn. Even thought her best friend said that Thelma is perfect, Thelma still wish to being an unicorn. Once her dream came true, she was super happy but it didn’t long time for her to realize that being who she was very special. Thelma realized that she misses her best friend and her formal life. What was the lesson for the book..? We wondered..

M: I know the book!

Sayaka: Who likes unicorns?

Petals: Me!

J: I don’t know.

C: I don’t like unicorns because I love unicorn Legos.

M: Because it’s cute.

A: Cute.

M: Unicorn is like dinosaur. I only like robot dinosaur.

T: I like unicorn because they’re so beautiful.

K: Unicorn sparkly like sky.

Sayaka: Petals, Thelma is real unicorn?

T: Pony Thelma.

Sayaka reviewed the story. Thelma didn’t proud of herself so she always wanted to be someone else. But the end, she realized that she proud of herself. She likes herself!

Sayaka: Do you like yourself petals?

T: I like myself! *Smile

M: I don’t know.

E: Yes, I love myself. I am happy!

Sayaka: Can I see your happy face?

E: *Big smile on his face.

C: I don’t like myself…

Sayaka: Why?

C: Because I love mommy. I love mommy and my daddy!

M: Yeah! I am happy my mommy happy my daddy happy M happy. (When my mommy and daddy happy it makes M happy.)

M: Yes, I like myself.

J: Happy! When dancing and play.

L: I love unicorns!

L: I don’t know! *Smile

K: Yeah.

Y: *Nodded his head.

S: *Nodded his head.

Then Sayaka emphasized that we should be proud of ourselves. We’ve done wonderful jobs throughout this year in Petals. Sayaka said that we can say “We did it!” and it makes feel proud and happy.

After that we started getting ready for the park. There were many friends and growups in the park. Luckily, we could play both in the green area and with the equipment.

Our free play time was a bit shorter than usual to prepare for Maryna’s dance. But, yes we had so much fun and showed our creativity through play.
