A Rainy Tuesday

Staying indoors proved to be fun and tiring as being able to play outdoors. Our teachers prepared a lot of stations for us to keep our busy bodies occupied and happy.

Playdough + Flowers + Shells

This station provides a great sensory experience for our younger peers while our older peers were encouraged to explore different concepts through it. Here’s what we did:

K inserted stems of flowers through the playdough. She noticed that after inserting, the flower stem would gently fall down. Why is that?

K explored the concept of how many seashells she could fit inside her “pizza”

W, S and R were our chefs for this station! S made pizza and made sure that it went inside the oven for it to be freshly baked. R became a pastry chef by making as many pies as he could bake! W made burritos and tacos by rolling a playdough flat and filling it with fillings.

R enjoyed using the rollers to flatten balls of playdough. He somehow took notice how much time a ball of playdough would flatten depending on its size

E had fun creating strips of playdough in different lengths. He then used it to form a sun, animals, etc!

N had fun making prints by pressing seashells onto the playdough

O and G sat beside each other and followed one another’s motions while working with playdough. G was asked to narrate the motions she did while O happily repeated what she said.

Practice Cutting with Tamara

Together with Tamara, a few of us worked on our cutting skills using the scissors. The used kitchen paper towels which were decorated over the past weeks are going to be used as buntings for our Year End party.

E and L spent a good chunk of their Free Play period working on their fine motor skills.

Scribbling with Hisami

Another way to enhance our fine motor skills is through scribbling. Together with Hisami, we did a lot of abstract drawing. M, I and I, in particular, enjoyed the many images that Hisami drew. She drew famous characters such as Anpanman, Doreamon, etc.

Playhuts and Trains

Having the playhuts set up inside the room invites us to have “secret” meetings with one another. The small space setup allows us to group together closely and share lots of giggles and conversations. D had the opportunity to get to know his friends more as he stayed for quite a while inside the playhuts and the train area. He was able to interact with K, W, and etc.

Music Medley with Erika

Erika played a 15 minute medley of different songs for us to move our bodies to. The medley included:

  1. “Finding rhythm” by Neil Frances

  2. “Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen

  3. “More Than A Woman” by Bee Gees

  4. “Tequila” by The Champs

  5. “In the Summertime” by Mungo Jerry

  6. “Pump” by Valentino Khan

It was such a great way to do “interpretative dancing” as we moved our bodies according to how the music made us feel.

When “Mermaid Lagoon/Bad Day At Skull” by The Cast of Peter Pan was played… It felt like we were listening to a story even though there were no lyrics / words.

Circle Time

For Circle Time, we sang our “Good Morning Song” and were each given a plastic cone. All of us gave ideas on how the plastic cone could be used. A popular idea was to use it as party hats and a loudspeaker to make funny sounds.

By the time we were going to have lunch time, a few of us asked our teachers to play a lullaby to rest as we felt tired with the many activities that were available for us today.

We hope everyone is staying dry and warm on this chilly Tuesday!

Love,

Buds Class Children
