The Mighty Construction Site!

Happy Friday everyone!

We started the day with our usual free play and we did so much! We played with playdough, E seemed to enjoy making cookies with different shapes. Y was having fun making pizzas. R, M, and A used the playdough tool to make spaghetti and Y had fun making meatballs, we can open our own petals restaurant! We also played with number games, we loved playing with the “count to 20 caterpillar game” and the “count to 10 colored blocks game”. M sorted all the colors before putting the blocks in the right number slot. It interested J a lot because he asked M if he could sort all the colors together with him, they had a lot of fun together.

We also continued our Koinobori craft with Sayaka, it was so fun to paint with watercolors, K particularly enjoyed the different shades of green that he could make from just adding water to it!

To start our circle time, we practiced the song we want to sing for Mother's Day. We are starting to memorize the rhythm well, we can’t wait for our mommies to hear it!

Then Marjorie pulled out a heart-shaped mystery box from behind her back, she shook it so we could hear a sound and then asked us what we thought was inside:

L : Heart!

K : I don’t know

T : Animal

M : Shark?

R : Elsa!

M : Mommy?

R : A dog

C : A toy

A : Elsa

M : Heart!

E : My mommy loves hearts! I don’t know what is inside…

Marjorie : Do you think it is big or small?

K : Big big!

M : Small

R : Can I see?

R : I cannot see!

When Marjorie opened the box, the object was still hidden by a sheet, we still couldn't see it! We were all able to touch the hidden object and we again tried to guess what it was by touching the object without seeing it:

Y : Jacket?

E : I don’t know

E : Sunglasses

C : I don’t know but it is hard

Sayaka : Ice cream?

Y : Eat ice cream

J : Toy

A : Ice cream!

P : Potato

R : A toy

M : A mommy

R : A ball!

T : I don’t know

M : A rock

K : Soccer Ball

M : A giraffe

L : Bread?

Then Marjorie finally showed us what was hiding under the sheet:

T : Excavator!

M : Shovel car

K : It’s a shovel right?

Marjorie : Do you remember who brought a book about Excavator for book day?

E : It’s Caspian’s book!

The book was called “Mighty, Mighty, Construction Site” by Sherri Duskey Rinker and Tom Lichtenheld and the story told us of the adventures of 5 trucks that wake up one morning with a large building to build!

R : In the morning I change clothes and go to Ohana

M : I eat breakfast, chocolate bread

T : I eat bread pizza!

C : I wash hands and go potty

L : Eat apple!

M : Wash hands, it’s still dark

The 5 trucks thought it was too difficult to build such a big building with only the 5 of them, they asked some friends for help and we all counted together. There were 10 trucks in total to build the building now! They all worked hard and together as a team, the building was finally done, they did it!

After Marjorie finished the book we also did a cooperation game, like the 10 trucks did! We formed a line and we had to put the excavator toy into its box without moving our feet from where we were! Theo was at the beginning of the line, he passed the toy to R who passed it to C who passed it to A, and so on. The excavator went hand to hand, until it reached P who was the one at the end of the line, next to the box, so that he could put the toy in! We did it without moving our feet!

After the game, it was time to get ready for the park with sunscreen and hats because it was starting to get really hot now!

Thank you so much for today, everyone! Have a wonderful weekend and see you on Monday!

Love,

Petals
