Flowers Hospital

Happy Wednesday! It’s a rainy day, but that hasn’t ruined any of our fun!

ZOOM CALL WITH A FRIEND!

Today, we cleaned up our free play toys early and all sat down in front of the projector. The last time the projector was out, we were celebrating international months, and saw a presentation about the Untied States. Would we see another presentation today?

Once we saw the Zoom call on screen, we immediately knew what was happening. But who were we calling? When the call connected, we saw our friend Ai on the screen! We were so excited! We hadn’t seen her for a long time. We started singing our hello song together, just like old times!

Ai told us that it was Tuesday night where she was. Hi reminded us that Ai is in America. Ar wanted to know, “what time is it?”

Ai: 8:50 PM

Da: What is PM?

Ai: PM is night time.

In Flowers class, it was daytime. Even though it was raining, we could see outside. That’s a big difference between where we are and where Ai is. We appreciate Ai and her mommy staying up late so that we could talk to each other.

Da: Why is it nighttime in your country?

Ai: Because it’s different time zone. Time zone are places where you see sun is on the other side, it’s light.

Let’s find out what Ai has been up to since she moved back to America.

Co: Do you have a school in America?

Ai: Yes!

Co: What is the name?

Ai: Advent School.

Hi: What food do you eat?

Ai: For dinner I had mac and cheese.

Hi: What is mac and cheese?

Ai: It’s a type of pasta.

Re: Do you have toys in America?

Ai: Toys, snow globes, and little origami.

Au: How are you today?

Ai: Good!

Ke: Did you have lunch?

Ai: Yes

Ke: What your lunch?

Ai: Sandwiches.

Ke: Do you have cake?

Ai: Mommy can make it.

Ke: I like cake. Too much cake, ouchie.

Ai: I don’t like cake.

Hi: Are you having fun in America?

Ai: Yes, but I miss Ohana school.

Hi: What is fun in America?

Ai: Playing with my dog.

Da: Can I see your dog? What’s the dog’s name?

Ai: Mana

Most of us had messages that we wanted to tell Ai before we ended the call.

Hi: Ai, I love you!

An: I love you!

Re: I love you!

Ri: I love you!

Au: I miss you!

Ka: I love you! I miss you Ai!

Ke: I love you!

Da: Ai, I miss you!

Ai: I miss you too! I love you too! We can be pen pals.

Da: What is pen pals?

Ai: Pen pals are special. They can send messages and letters.

Maybe we can send letters and pictures back and forth between Ai and Flowers class! It was very fun to talk to Ai again! We really do miss her a lot! We hope that she keeps having fun in America and that we can talk to her again sometime soon! Take care Ai!

QUESTION OF THE DAY – Do you want to be a doctor?

An told us the question of the day today, “do you want to be a doctor?” Everyone said no! Why?

Da: Because it’s not fun to be a doctor. Every time I go doctor I have shot. I cry, so that’s why.

Ka: But shot will make you better.

An: Sometimes I get shot, I got a sticker.

Au: In Lithuania, I got shot. There are actually hospital in Lithuania. It was a blue house and doctor gave me a shot. It doesn’t hurt, but I still don’t like it because the doctor don’t give me a prize.

Ke: My shot is ouchie. I cry. Dentist is ouchie. I cry! I don’t like it.

Da: I like dentist, because they have toys.

After we spent some time discussing it, some of us rethought our original opinion…

An: I want to be a doctor, because I have toy shot at my home.

Da: I want to be a doctor because I like to give a shot to people.

We went to the other side of the room, and noticed that during our discussion, our teachers had set up a pretend doctor’s office! We could see what it might be like to be a doctor. There were many different stations set up, including the doctors office with reception desk, and pharmacy, and a train to take us to the hospital. Those friends who said they wanted to be a doctor, got the first chance at dressing up as one. Once off the train, the receptionists invited the patients into the doctor’s office and the patients told the doctor what was wrong. The doctors looked them over, diagnosed them, and patched them up with bandages and gave them shots. Then they proceeded to the pharmacy to get their medicine before going home. We switched roles a few times, so that everyone had a chance to play each role. Here are a few excerpts from what went on…

Dr. Da: He has quick stomach. I need a bandage! Bandage! He’s gonna sleep here three days.

Receptionist Hi: I check computer. Someone foot broken, is coming.

Patient Au: Hi Doctor, are we finished? Hi Doctor!? (The doctor left the patient without a verdict.)

Doctor Au: How are you feeling now?

Patient Br: I’m feeling better now.

Our doctors, pharmacists, and receptionists were all very professional in their conduct. They handled many different ailments and sudden rushes of patients very well. Everyone was healed and left the office satisfied. After role-playing, Hi thought that it was a good idea to be a doctor saying, “it can help people.” We had so much fun that we didn’t want to stop. We hope that we’ll be able to do it again sometime soon.

Next, as a class, we put a puzzle together that had various professions on each piece. We were each given two puzzle pieces and needed to put it together by working together. We had a few trying moments and brief arguments, but we soon realized that the puzzle doubled as an ABC’s puzzle and we tried singing the ABC song to figure out which piece went where. Within about 30 minutes, we had finished the puzzle! We figured out the best way to work together to put it all together. Great teamwork!

We’ll continue talking about different jobs tomorrow! Have a great night!

Love,

Flowers class XOXO
