Visit to the Vet!

We are so busy this week with so many events going on! Today was no different with our special “excursion” we went out later in the morning. To get ready for our special trip we started with our morning free play time as usual. We played with the train rail set in the play area and playdough on one of the tables. On our other two tables, we had the Obento craft from yesterday for our friends that missed out and hand printing.
We had a shorter free play time than usual because we need to have our snacks and a short circle time to talk about where we were going.

Nimo: Do you know where we are going today?
T: The Vet!
L: X-ray
M: Animals go to the vet and the doctors fix it.
T: Vets check eyes and ears.
Nimo: In Japanese vets are called, “Juui-san”.
Petals: “Juui-san”!
Nimo: Does anyone have any questions for the vet?
T: Does she have a pet Parrot?
G: Or maybe 5 pigeons?
K: 10 pigeons!
M: Does she have a whiteboard?
R: I think the vet has one small turtle. I wonder how many people work at the vet.
Sayaka: I wonder if the vet uses the same tools our doctors use.
T: And medicine?
Nimo: What about spiders? I have a friend who has a big pet spider called a tarantula. I wonder what my friend needs to do when it gets sick.
E: A spider is an insect! Where does the snake go when it is sick?
M: Me! I help pet spiders.

We decided to ask four questions for today.
1) Does the vet had a pet?
2) Does the vet use tools?
3) Can the vet we are visiting fix spiders and snakes?
4) How many people work in the vet?

With our questions ready and our curiosity peaked, we walked a few minutes down the road to the vet.
T: I take my cat Faye-chan here once.
We were a little bit early so we good a nice walk around the block. When we got back, everything was ready!
Luckily for us, the vet was looking at a patient and we got to see how the vet works! There was a little dog and her owner and the vet was doing a check-up. After we saw the vet do the check-up, we went into the operating room and looked at all the cool gadgets they had! We went deeper into the operation room where they have cages where they keep pets that need fixing. Inside one of the cages, we got to see a beautiful little cat!

G looked at the little dog as she was getting her check-up.
G: Are you sad? Is the dog sad?
The doctor: Actually not. He had ouchie around his bum bum, but it’s getting smaller and he is fine now. He is also taking medication.
G: Where is the medicine?
Doctor: The owner has them and gives him the medicine.
G: Oh you have medicine?
The owner: Yes, I do.
G seemed happy to hear the dog was ok.

We also asked the vet the four questions we prepared:
1) I have a pet cat! No parrots, sorry!
2) We have lots of tools, stethoscopes, medicine, shots, and a lot more!
3) Sorry, I don’t like spiders and snakes so I can’t fix them.
4) We have three working right now and another doctor will come in soon.

The vet showed us some of the tools they used and even let us try on the stethoscope. We even got to see the x-ray of the cat that was in the cage. We could see the bones, the heart, and its tummy!

After an amazing experience, we thanked our vets and received stickers!

When we got back to school we put our prizes in our pouches and had our lunch!

Have a wonderful evening everyone and we will see you all again for Fabulous Friday!

Love,
Petals
