Singapore's Merlion

Our class is growing in number and so are the opportunities to unlock new developmental milestones that guide us to be the best versions of ourselves in each moment.

Assorted Sports Table

This station aimed to encourage us to think of creative and innovative ways given the mismatched sports items (bowling pins, ping pong balls, and tennis rackets) that were laid out on the table that was set up like a bowling alley/ping pong table.

Here are the ways we thought of playing in this station:

  1. Together with Nanako, N & A observed different ways on how the bowling pins can be arranged.

  2. Together with Goh San, K and T thought of using tennis rackets to hit ping pong balls to one another

  3. N and W bonded over playing “ping pong” with the added twist of knocking down the bowling pins in between

  4. S thought of using the knocked down bowling pins and “jumping” ping pong balls as an obstacle course to drive toy cars around

  5. T took the challenge of trying out how much items his arms and hands could carry

What Animals Do You See?

As we are on our last week of exploring Africa, our “Colorful Night Safari” abstract process group artwork was cut into smaller pieces for us to better “see” the possible creatures that we could imagine.

K said that images with long strips of paper resembled giraffes

N and R bonded over looking at the art work together

E and A spent time scribbling on the artwork

While we are on the topic of “animals”, K brought her pet “Colo-chan” with her which caught the hearts of R and G! Spot the picture of how happy they both were upon seeing K’s pet.

Gatcha Gatcha Surprise

A “Gatcha Gatcha” inspired station was prepared in the inner part of the room. Using empty gatcha gatcha containers, we stored colorful puffs and spiky connecting toys inside. M spent time playing with the “prize” she won by putting together spiky connecting pieces.

In line with the concept of “surprise”, our balcony windows are decorated with beautiful sakura and butterfly art pieces to celebrate the season of spring. Through it, N and T bonded together by playing peek-a-boo!

We were also in for a surprise upon seeing K wearing a wig with a gigantic cowboy hat on!

Circle Time

We gave the spotlight to Goh San and learned about her home country, Singapore! We found out that just like in Hong Kong and China, there are people in Singapore who can speak Mandarin! Goh San shared with us a song called “ 两只老虎” (Two Tigers) to slowly introduce to the famous Merlion Statue in Singapore.

K asked an interesting question about Singapore… “Is there Disneyland?” to which Goh San answered, “None.” Yet Singapore has a lot of things to offer that can equal Disneyland such as Marina Sands Bay and its beautiful buildings and architecture.

Erika and Goh San read the books “One is a Drummer” and “Red is a Dragon” both authored by Roseanne Thong which tell us some of the popular past times and traditions done by Chinese Singaporeans such as celebrating dragonboat festivals, playing mahjong, and wearing green jade bracelets.

Outdoor Play

We are blessed with beautiful sunny weather this morning which allowed us to go play at Step Park. We were in for such a treat as we were greeted by beautiful and in full bloom sakura trees when we arrived.

I enjoyed spending time with Goh San while W & A bonded by rolling/tossing rings.

We hope everyone is having a great Wednesday so far!

Love,

Buds Class Children
