Exlporing Thailand with our special guest!

What does this animal look like?

Today in Buds class we continue on our African Safari theme with our art animal station! At this station we laid out toys of various different animals. We had paper and a plethora of crayon and colored pencils. At this station we had one mission…to have fun! Some of our Buds friends enjoyed taking the colored pencils and crayons, and drawing the animals. Some of our friends were trying to draw zebras, lions and tigers and whatever else came to mind! We love to see all the creativity shine from each one of our friends! Most of our friends decided art was not their thing and just simply were content to play with the animals. All in all, we had so much fun! Mission complete!

Let’s make music

At our next station, the musical instruments returned! We had bells, egg maracas and drums! Some of us put the 2 bells together to see what kind of sound we would get. Others of us shook our colorful egg maracas and bells. While other friends preferred the drums. A few wanted to put the maracas inside the drums, and we all found out that doing this produced a beautiful sound! We wore the drums on our heads as well just to be a bit silly! We had so much fun and we were a symphony of diverse sounds! We think we all sounded great! Who knows we may be up for next year's Grammy!

Plushie friends and imaginary buildings!

Today in Buds we brought out our plushie animal friends. Many of our Buds friends took a liking them, especially the dogs. Some of our friends renamed the plushies after other Buds friends and others gave the plushies names like “doggy” or “kitty”. Watching our friends walk with each of the plushies really warmed our hearts. In Buds class the love of furry friends is strong!

In addition to hanging out with furry friends, we had the large blocks again! Some Buds friends stacked up the blocks like a wall and even as a big tower! A few of our friends got really experimental and decided to just roll the blocks down the slide and see which would end up at the bottom. We had a block race in Buds class and everyone's block was a winner!

Circle time: Discovering Thailand’s transportation with a special guest!

We have been exploring the continent of Africa but today we took a brief return to the continent of Asia with a brief stop at Thailand! Yeah! Today was even more exciting because we had a special guest speaker to introduce us to Thailand!  One of our Bud’s moms and she is from Thailand. She came to Buds class to tell us about the diverse transportation in Thailand! Oh boy is the transportation diverse! From taxis to tuk tuks and even elephants! Thailand has so many creative modes of transportation!

Firstly, she educated us on how Thailand is not that far at all from Japan. We found out that a flight is about 5 hours long but to walk or swim to Thailand from Japan is only a 130 day trip! Some of our Buds decided that swimming and walking was a lot better and more economically than flying. Then, she  told us that in Thailand motorcycles are extremely popular. People often use them as taxis and many can fit on one motorcycle. In many parts of the world, we can see 1 or 2 people on motorcycles but not in Thailand. In Thailand they ride motorcycles in style and they can fit about 6 people on one bike! Awesome!

Next, she shared with us one of Thailand's most famous modes of transportation: the tuk tuk! All of us in Buds class learned how to say “tuk tuk!” We found out that the tuk tuks are also like taxis but not as fast and many people can fit in them. Then, she  had a treat for all of us which was actual toys of tuk tuks! The class went wild for the toys and many of them couldn’t get enough of them! What was also exciting was Thailand's actual taxis! In most places taxis may be yellow or black but not in Thailand, nope, they are bright and colorful! She  told us that all taxis in Thailand come in bright colors! Think pinks, reds, yellows, blues and all pastels! We learned that they are so bright because they need to be seen by everyone! The taxis are like the colors of the rainbow!

Thailand is such a land of creativity that even the airplanes are painted in bright colors and she showed all of us an airplane that was painted as a bird! Then it got even better! She told us that they even ride elephants in Buds class! Wow! They ride elephants sometimes in Thailand! That is amazing! What a cool mode of transportation! We in Buds class don’t think it gets better than riding an actual elephant!

Lastly, she  played a game of hot potato tuk tuk with us in class. We had to pass a tuk tuk toy in a circle to the rhythm of the beat. When the song stopped whoever was holding the tuk tuk won a prize. In the end, we all were winners and she was so kind to give each winner a pack of awesome stickers! Thank you to our guest! We ended with a class picture and we sang a song to our guest! We at Buds are so grateful for our special guest for sharing so much about Thailand with us and giving us a fun filled day!

Indoor Play and second circle time

Today we decided to play inside with rings , slides and the trains! We had so much fun running around and building train tracks and tossing rings! Today was a beautiful day outside but a more fun day inside the classroom!

Circle Time:Reading and Music!

We ended our day's activities with circle time! Today we read the book “Imagine” by Herve Tullet. The book included shadows of people's bodies and different structures. We learned about different body parts like about our arms and feet but also  how our bodies can move. We even saw silhouettes of places. Some of the places were temples. Some of our friends from China recognized the shape as being a structure from China and others from Japan said the structures were in Japan. Some of our Buds friends also recognized that the Eiffel tower looked similar to Tokyo. In the end we are more similar than we are different

We had a very eventful day in Buds today! We traveled to many places in the classroom. We experienced Africa then we made a stop at Thailand! We learned so much about Thailand and we gave a big thank you hug to our guest for introducing us to Thailand!

We hope everyone has a Terrific Thursday!

Love,

Buds Class Children
