Ukraine Day!
Happy Tuesday everyone!
Today we saw the day in blue and yellow because as Rafi said, today is very very sunny with a blue sky but also because today was Ukraine day!
We started the day by continuing our flower craft with Nimo and our sakura tree craft with Marjorie, we also played a lot with blocks, we built towers and we also imagined that they were cars, it was so fun!
Then we had a big surprise, Maryna came to petals classroom and we visited Ukraine with her!
Maryna first started by showing us the flag of Ukraine, Theo and J knew it was yellow and blue, when Maryna asked if we knew the reason for the two colors. E knew that blue is for the sky and R said the yellow part was for the sun, but Maryna said it was yellow because of a flower then T said it was sunflower and he was right! Maryna asked us if it was very hot in Ukraine or very cold, we all thought it was very hot, but it is very very cold in Ukraine! Maryna showed us a photo where everything is covered in snow, C thought it was Hokkaido and T said that with snow you can make snowballs and throw them at daddy! M said that we can also make snowman and K said that we need to wear jackets!
And we even discovered the traditional breakfast in Ukraine. Maryna asked us what food we like to eat in Japan, T said fish, R said chicken and M said rice balls. In Ukraine, Maryna said that they eat a lot of bread and in the morning they eat ' Grechka ' it’s buckwheat Porridge, it looked so yummy! Our teachers got to try a bite and they really liked it!
We also saw the clothes in Ukraine, Maryna said that the colors changed depending on where which part of Ukraine you live in. Maryna is from the south of Ukraine, she has the color white! Maryna also had a crown of flowers on her head and M said it was very pretty, she's right, it's really very pretty!
We laughed a lot when we played games that Maryna played in Ukraine! For the first game, we put our shoes in the center of our circle and Marjorie had to sit facing the wall. Maryna help up a shoe from the pile and Marjorie said a name without seeing whose shoe it was. All of our shoes got jumbled up! M got a shoe from Marjorie and a shoe from Sayaka, J got a shoe from Nimo and a shoe from R, everything was mixed up, we laughed a lot!
We played another game with a huge elastic band. We had to jump over it and Maryna showed us how she could jump high, Nimo did it too, they jumped higher than a kangaroo! And we ended Ukraine day by learning a traditional dance and by learning how they say thank you in Ukraine : Dyakuyu !
And we were all very happy to say Dyakuyu to Lobery too because today is also white day and he brought us all a surprise for white day, Dyakuyu L, Dyakuyu Maryna and Dyakuyu everyone for today, see you tomorrow !
