Welcome, E + The Animals in South Africa
Assorted Animals Imaginative and Sensory Play
All stations during the Free Play period were focused on animals. We all roamed around the room like how animals would freely roam around its habitat.
A thought of an interesting idea of mimicking the pose of the toy animals she came across with. She followed how a giraffe would stand by “standing” on all fours using her hands and feet.
L was astonished upon seeing elephants projected on the wall “roaming” around
G worked on our “Colorful Night Safari” by using oil pastel to make it even more colorful
Our “Veteran” Buds Members Stepping Up
Free Play is also the period wherein opportunities to instinctively help one another comes out. W and S went ahead and helped E feel welcomed by offering him toys to play such as the trains and animals.
N, on the other hand, sat beside I to entice her to play “toss the ring” with her.
The Animals of South Africa
Our special guest for today was Shelley who introduced to us the animals found in her home country, South Africa. With a video of animals projected on the wall, we looked closely at how each of them looked and even played games such as “Guess Which Animal Makes this Sound” and “Pin the Trunk on the Elephant”.
The Butterflies that Flutter during Spring Time
Since the season of spring is just sprouting around the corner, one of popular animals that come around are butterflies. For our morning roll call, each of us were given a butterfly finger puppet after we proudly introduced ourselves to one another.
Erika taught us the song “Fly, Fly, Fly the Butterfly” wherein butterflies fly low when in the garden to smell the flowers and fly high when in the meadows.
Indoor Play
Since it was drizzling during the time when we would normally go out to the park, we stayed indoors and were kept occupied with thinking of ideas on what we could do. One idea that we thought of was playing the drums upon hearing the catchy songs from Neil Frances and “Tea for Two” by Xavier Cugat.
We also reinvented the playful story/song “I Went Walking” by Sue Williams by “being” the animals that came out while Erika “went on a walk”. We wore animal headgears and giggled when we were called “W the Tiger”, “N the Elephant”, and “L with the pink earmuffs”. It was also wonderful to see S and N offer everyone a headgear to wear.
We hope everyone is having a great start of the week!
Love,
Buds Class Children
