Thanksgiving in Flowers Class

Happy Thursday (11/30) everyone!

Welcome to another fabulous day in Flowers Class. I wonder what new things our Flowers friends will come up with during our time together, let’s see! Thank you for reading our journal!

MORNING ACTIVITIES AND CRAFTS

As soon as we arrived, we noticed that our teachers had a lot of prepared activities for us. Starting with our crafts, today we got to make our own Hannukah candle. Hannukah is an important Jewish celebration for some Flowers friends, and we thought it would be nice to celebrate along them by making our own candles. For that, we used toilet paper rolls on which we put colored tape and red paper to make the flame. In the end, everyone used different tapes and made their own unique candle.

On another table, each friend made another very special ornament for our winter holidays! We created a headband to look like Rudolf the cheeky reindeer! For that, we used brown construction paper that we cut, bent and used tape on to make the basis of the headband. Then, we decorated it by adding pompom for the nose, googly eyes and glittery pipe cleaners for the mouth. But there is something missing I think… Antlers! Vieda helped us to make some by drawing the shapes, but we cut them by ourselves, before gluing them on the basis we made earlier.

In the meantime, some Flowers friends were playing with K’nex toys, those are rods and connectors that allow them to create whatever they imagine. Some made cars, others made robots or machines and were really happy about having the wheel spinning or being able to bend the mechanical arms.  We also saw some friends build made-up animals or insects; their imagination knows no limits!

We were having so much fun, but it was soon time for our snack. We got ready to eat and after that we practiced our dances for our Winter party show. We hope that all our Flowers friends’ families will be able to attend it!

THANKSGIVING PARTY

Today, we were impatient because we were about to celebrate Thanksgiving by having a real turkey for lunch. Cameron is the one that cooked it, he also made mashed potatoes and salad to go along. As we asked our American families to come to celebrate with us, we were really lucky to have Y. (C’s mom) coming to our party. She even brought dessert for everyone, apple pies and pumpkin pies! We were so lucky!! Yummy!

Thanksgiving is an American tradition taking place in November where friends and families gather to have dinner together and express what they are thankful about. We asked our Flowers friends what they were thankful for:

B.: I am thankful for my family and my friends.

H.: I am for my mom and my dad and my brother.

T.: I am thankful for my baby.

Y. (C’s mom): I am thankful to share this moment with Flowers and with Clarence.

C.: For the cake.

A.: I want to say thanks for what my family did for me and what they buy for me.

E.: For apples.

V.: For bananas.

R.: For video.

S.: I am thankful for my mom.

G.: For robots.

T.: For Grandma.

R.: For mommy.

K.: For brother.

S.: For daddy.

T.: For Vieda.

Y.: Thank you for mommy.

R.: I am thankful for my teachers, my family and my friends.

Everyone tried a piece of the turkey and a spoon of mashed potatoes; they all loved it. Some Flowers friends even asked to get some more, once, twice or more! It was a really nice experience for a lot of them!

Thank you so much for following our daily adventures!

Lots of love!
