What is Thanksgiving?
Good afternoon everyone! Today was a day of sharing and creativity!
This morning we had a fire drill! We calmly covered our mouths, crouched and walked outside to practice safely leaving the room in an emergency. Great work everyone!
Many of us worked toward finishing up the free drawing activity on the first activity table that we’ve all been working on together. D and B made some illustrations but also began counting the colored pencils and crayons together!
On the second activity table, we had clay and sculpting tools available. N, N and I made a pizza pie for three animal friends, a toy snake, alligator and ant! They also like pizza themselves! Delicious! I and L also had fun shaping their clay with fingers and cutting tools to serve the animals! YUM!
We even had the chance to begin a wonderful turkey craft at the small table gluing together colored cellophane and other papers we previously ripped during fine motor exercises on Monday. L, T and O did a wonderful job creating their colorful turkeys! They look fantastic! Turkeys are commonly found in America and Brandon told us that most people eat them on Thanksgiving as they are ideal for sharing with many people.
At circle time, we sang our good morning song and said everyone’s names together. D knew everyone’s names and said them each loudly! He has a great big voice! Afterwards, we again practiced our holiday songs with Brandon and his guitar but also read a new book called “the first thanksgiving” about how sharing with others to spread happiness is a way we can celebrate giving thanks to friends and family anywhere we are! M especially liked the hidden picture pockets on each page revealing new pictures for the story!
Pretty soon it was time for us to leave for the park but not before gifting our precious friend O a farewell card as today was his last day with us. We love and will miss you dearly O! We wish you and your family a safe and fun journey!
Thanks and have a great afternoon!
Love,
Buds
