Pumpkin Seeds & Animals
Happy Wednesday! Halloween is over and it’s November! 2023 is beginning to wind down and we’re trying to finish strong!
MORNING ACTIVITIES
We took some time to look back on yesterday’s Halloween party and trick-or-treat outing. We thought about all the things we loved including our performance, face painting, bowling, wrap your mummy, and everything else with our families! We picked our favorite things and drew them!
PARK TIME
We’ve been so busy so far this week, that we haven’t been able to go to the park. So now that things have settled down a bit, we went to Step Park to run around playing tag and other games with our friends. We also got to play with Petals class for the second half of our playtime.
CIRCLE TIME
To begin our circle time, Mi asked to share a picture with us!
Mi: Last time when I was three, I go to museum in Okinawa. My mommy, daddy, and this is my aunt and my grandfather. My grandmother was out.
We had a few questions for Mi about her photo.
Ri: Is it a real one (shark)?
Mi: No, it’s just show for picture.
Ei: Why is there a whale shark there?
Mi: So we can take picture.
Sh: What is this?
Th: A pancake?
Mi: I don’t know.
Be: It’s seaweed!
Thank you for sharing Mi! It’s so nice to have many friends who like to share things with us!
PUMPKIN SEEDS
On Monday, when we carved our pumpkin, we set the seeds aside so that they could dry. Let’s take a look at them today and see if they’ve changed.
Re: It was like water, but now it’s dry! It’s sticky!
Ty: It feels like dry.
Au: It’s sticky and hard. Green is coming out!
Mi: Green beans!
Ei: The seed is growing!
We noticed that the seeds were quite different than before. Now they were dry and some of them were beginning to sprout! We knew that if we plant the seed in soil and give it water, then it will grow into another pumpkin! Should we try it? Where can we plant them?
Re: Balcony!
Hi: And then it can grow!
We wondered if we could eat the seeds too. Be told us how she prepared the seeds that her and her family gave us for trick-or-treat gifts yesterday.
Be: I boiled and wash it, and my daddy dried it. Then I put sea salt and put it in the oven for 10 minutes at 108 degrees.
Who tried the pumpkin seeds?
Ke: Me! It was yummy!
Ta: Super yummy! Very super yummy!
QUESTION OF THE DAY
Sh: Do you like animals?
Everyone said yes! Let’s all share our favorite animal and why…
Hi: Bunny, because I love pink and they’re cute and I like carrots and cabbage and bunnies like them too!
Gr: Cow, because I love cows! They are so cute!
Ke: I like cheetah because it’s really fast!
Ei: Snake, because they say, “ssssss!”
Ri: Rabbit, because I like pink and because they are cute.
Ta: Cobra! So fun and fast!
Ty: I love Pikachu because he is speedy!
Re: Bunny, because it eats carrots and so cute and I like it.
Mi: My favorite animal is guinea pig because they are soft!
Au: I like Pokémon, because they are my favorite colors, and they have magic.
Sh: I love cheetah. They are fast and cool, and they have black dots.
Th: I like salamanders. They’re red and black and some can be poisonous.
Se: Dog!
Ve: Elephant! (making elephant sounds)
Ve gave us a great idea! Before we get ready for lunch, let’s all make the sounds or do the actions of our favorite animals!
We’re now entering the next central idea of our theme: People and animals interact in different ways and different contexts.
For the rest of the year, we will be discussing all things animals including the different animal groups, the roles they play in our lives, how they help us, how we take care of them, etc. We’re excited for where this will take us throughout the upcoming weeks including our upcoming trip to Tama Zoo!
Have a wonderful evening! See you tomorrow!
Love,
