Can Plants Eat Insects?

Happy Friday! This week had made us as busy as bees learning more about living and non-living things, making Halloween crafts, dancing with Maryna, and celebrating birthdays! We enjoyed every bit of these things. Today, we continued to talk about living things and their ability to reproduce or “to make another one”. When Axel asked what we talked about yesterday, we had a lot to say!

            Ei: We talked about life.

            Mi: About non-living things.

C: Living things breathe or they eat.

            K: They sleep and talk.

Be: The costumes are not living because they don’t change. It doesn’t move.

We talked more about what reproduce means.

Ei: They can split and make another of you.

Mi: Sometimes people cut, and then the plants will grow.

Co: When the seeds do down, they will grow up. We don’t need to touch them. It’s going to be a lot of flowers. Nobody did it. They just grow up.

Mi: When the leaf fall down, it’s not alive.

B: When I grow up, I can get married, and I can have a baby.

            A: But not the boy!

            Be: The boy can reproduce!

We are so proud of ourselves that little by little, we can tell which things are living and which are non-living. At the beginning of the week, we did not consider plants as living things. As our learning progressed, we realized that plants eat, move, breathe, and reproduce, which means they are living things! When we think about ourselves, since we eat, move, breathe, and can reproduce, then we are living things, too!

MORE ABOUT VENUS FLYTRAP

Here’s what we remember about these meat-eating plants.

            R: They can eat bees.

Re: They can’t eat people, but they can eat insects.

            A: The bug sticks

            K: Plants have small tummy.

Ty: I see one in the movie.

C: It doesn’t go in the stomach. It just goes in the hole.

Axel: What else do plants need?

QUESTION OF THE DAY

A lot of friends wanted to try to read today’s question of the day.

Gr: Do you insects eat plants?

            A: Do you know work?

            C: Do you know…?

            Mi: Do you need water?

That’s right! Today’s question of the day was “do you need water?”.

            Ta: No!
R: If you don’t drink water, you die.

C: If we didn’t drink water, you gonna nechusho.

Ar: I know that! It’s very hot, you gonna die.

E: You can be thirsty or hot.

M: You’re going to the sky.

Ke: If water drink, you don’t die.

Ar: If you drink, you die.

Be: If you don’t drink, your brain can shrink, and you can get a headache.

As always, we had an interesting time sharing our ideas about water. Next week, we will try to explore more on the topic about water. Here’s the question for our “homework”: What will happen if we don’t drink water? We are excited to hear what you think about this question!

MORNING ACTIVITIES

We continued to work on our Halloween crafts that relate to our theme about living and non-living things. Ty loved the spider craft and asked, “I already made one yesterday. Can I make another one, please?”. He did and he was very happy as he made his spider move around the “web” before gluing it on. Gr remembered the real spider we saw on our ceiling yesterday and commented, “My spider, where is it going? Up there? I don’t want it to go up there!”. You’ll be surprised when you find out where the spiders will be! The scarecrows are up on the wall already! This is just the beginning of a spooky Halloween wall display!

DANCE

There were a lot of giggles, smiles, and singing voices in dance class with Maryna. We got so excited with the music that we could not help but sing with it! Please look forward to it when we present them on our Halloween party😊

We hope you had a fabulous Friday, too! Have a great weekend!

Love,
