Rainbow Fish

Happy Thursday everyone! We had a very busy morning today! On one of our tables, we sat down with Evita to finish up our ice cube painting and our spray art. With Sayaka we finished our Otsukimi crafts and put them up on our window! It looks so beautiful! Each of us sat down with Nimo today at the sensory table to practice counting! The table was filled with water and had lots of toy fish swimming in it! One at a time we sat down next to Nimo and picked the fish out of the water and put them into the bowl as we put the fish in the bowl we counted, “One, two, three…”. It was fun playing with the water and the fish and best of all we practiced how to count to twenty!

After our morning free play time, we packed our things away and had a snack. We gathered into a circle and sang a new song! With Halloween coming up, we practiced singing an introduction song. The song goes, “Knock, knock, trick or treat, who are you?” and we reply, “I am [name]”. Eventually, when we figure out what we want to be for Halloween we will say our character name instead of our real names. Then we sang, “Go away big green monster”, we all did a great job singing the songs!

Nimo started our circle time by asking us a few questions:

Nimo: What did we pick out the water today?

A: Fish.

J: We catch it, and put it in the bowl, and count!

We all practiced counting to 20 one more time.

Then Nimo read us a book called, “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister. It is a very famous book about a colorful and shiny fish that doesn’t want to share his shiny scales. The Rainbow Fish didn’t do a very good job of saying no politely so the other fish were a little scared of the Rainbow Fish. Now that the Rainbow Fish was all alone, he started to feel sad and didn’t know why people didn’t like him since he was so beautiful. The Wise Octopus told the Rainbow Fish to share his scales if he wanted to be happy. He didn’t quite know how that would work, but he gave one of his important scales to a small blue fish, and seeing how happy the small fish was, the Rainbow Fish started to feel happy. In no time, the Rainbow Fish handed out all but one of his scales and they all played together happily!

Nimo: Where do you see fish?

M: In the sea.

J: In the ocean.

M: Okinawa, I have goggles!

Nimo: What do we do with water?

L: Touch it!

J: Drink it!

Nimo: Do you remember what you talked about with Sayaka yesterday? Do you want to drink clean or dirty water?

M: That’s dirty water, no!

Y: Drink the clean water!

Y: Sand inside?!

Nimo: I wonder, what can we do to keep the water clean?

Petals: Hmmmmm….

We decided to continue our conversation tomorrow and head out to the park! We had a great time running around in the Green Area of Step Park as usual!

Before we went home, we went down to Buds class to celebrate Shelley and Brandon's birthday!

Thank you all for another fabulous day, hope you all have a great evening and we will see you all again tomorrow!

Love
