Our Ears!
Wow it’s already Friday?! We had so much fun at school this week time feels like it zipped by! Our playdough table was popular like always. Nimo joined us at the table and made some pasta and snowmen for us! R helped Nimo make a cute snowman, “Here Nimo, this is the eyes. Here is the head”. L decorated the space around the snowman. K rolled the playdough on the table and made a long string, “I made a worm!”. C made some heart cookies out of playdough and shared them with her friends, “Here K! I made you some cookies!”.
E and T were playing with the Science Viewer and the animal book. E said, “I see a horse!”, T searched through the animal book, but couldn’t find a horse, “There is no horse in the book”. P also took a peek inside the Science Viewer and saw a pig, “Monkey!”. C noticed a digital camera in the dress up corner, “Is that camera a toy?”. Our teachers charged the battery for the camera so we could actually take some pictures, “I’m going to take a picture of you!”. J wanted to do puzzles, “I want the numbers and small alphabet puzzle please”. R got the USA map puzzle and pointed at the two animals he saw, “A Polar Bear! And a scary crocodile!”.
Before we went to the park Nimo read us a story, “There’s a Giraffe in My Soup” by Ross Burach. It was a silly story about animals ending up in the boy’s soup. We went to Step Park so we could have plenty of time to run and play! When we got back to school, we gathered into a circle for our second circle time. Nimo read us one more book called, “The Ear Book” by Al Perkins and Henry Payne. Much like the Eye book we read yesterday, but this time it was all about our ears and what they do.
T: They are for listening.
R: When you put your fingers in here (ears), you can’t hear anything.
C: Listening ears.
Before we had our lunch, we played a quick listening game. The rules were simple, Nimo made a sound and we had to guess what animal makes the sound. We closed our eyes so we can focus more on listening.
Woof woof
C: Puppy
K: Doggie!
Meow meow
C: A cat
Hoot hoot
E: Owl!
Oink oink
P: Pig
Chirp chirp
T: Bird!
Squeek squeak
T: Dog?
E: Is it a cat?
R: Mouse!
Shelley joined our circle time and made some real animal noises!
Shelley: *Pig noises*
T: Pig!
Shelley: *Horse noise*
C: a horse
Shelley: *Galloping sound*
R: Gorilla!
T: A chicken?
E: Bird?
Shelley: It’s not the sound the animal makes, but the sound when it runs.
T: A horse!
We wanted to keep playing the animal game, but we ran out of time and had to start eating our lunch.
We had another amazing week at school! Have a great weekend everyone and we will see you again on Monday!
Love,
Petals
