Our Feelings

8/31/2022 Wednesday -

Good morning Petals class! We started our day with fun free play time as always. We had some puzzles on the table. E really enjoyed doing puzzles today. H was looking at what Petals were doing at the puzzle area. P chose the box of cars for us to play with at free play area of the classroom. S asked the teachers if he could play with the cars with his friends. P showed everyone the toy motorbike and said, “Bike!”. On the big table, we had sand as a sensory activity. The white sand was very soft and felt so nice in our hands. We squeezed, scooped, and used our creativity to play with the sand, it was a nice time for us to do some exploring!

R: Look! I made this. (Pointed out what she made)

Sayaka: It looks like a sand castle.

R: R make a sand castle!

C: I want to play sand. (He started playing with it)

C: I wanna do that. I want to use a spoon.

Sayaka: Do you want to use a sponge?

C: Uh…No..My mom doesn’t say that. I am making a soup.

Sayaka: Can I have a jjigae soup. Spicy one.

C: Okay. here you go. The food is ready! It’s corn. Noodle, chicken, and broccoli!

T: Sayaka, it’s a noodle broccoli.

J: Ajimomo noodle! Haha.

(L smiled and looked at what she was doing. She touched it and scooped the sand with the spoon)

Ko: Look! Eyes here. (Pointed out inside the sand) Seashell.

C: I’m done. Can you read my book? (And he took out his lifebook and brought it to the table.)

With Nimo, we enjoyed doing hand paint. He had green and red, Ohana color for the activity. Nimo used the brush to paint on our hands and it tickled a bit! G showed his red and green hands to the teachers. It was a nice art activity.

After we had our snack time, we were getting ready for outside time and today’s circle time. We started our circle time wit our favorite song, “Good morning song”! Sayaka went to library and found a book that was a nice to read for today’s circle time. The book was “Happy” by MIES VAN HOUT, it was a very colorful lovely book with brightly colored fish expressing various emotions on the book. Happy fish was on the cover page. As we read the book we saw lots of other fish with different emotions, Sayaka asked us to take a guess from the fish’s facial expression.
