Good morning Petals, and happy Friday! We started off our morning with fun free play time! We had blocks and toy animals for today. G, T, K jumped and made the sounds of animals of the toys they were playing with. C requested the teacher to have a piece of paper for some drawing, he was also curious of what his friends were doing. As he was looking at what they were doing, C came to the art table and asked, “What are you doing? Paper? I wanna drow, too!” Then she sat down next to C and started coloring. R, E and L spent time playing with stickle bricks.
After snack time, we had today’s circle time. Sayaka showed us how we can read our special life books. We usually keep the books in the shelf and haven't had chance to have a look at them yet. Sayaka introduced some of our books, we took a look at C, E, and R’s life book. C was super happy to introduce his life book to us. He pointed out and said, “My mommy and daddy!” he also pointed out his big brother and sister. “C mommy daddy.” R pointed to the picture. “Look, C mommy!” T said. All the photos in his life book were beautiful and sweet. “Wow!” We all liked the photo of him riding on the big red tractor. Thank you very much C! Sayaka explained that all the life books are very special so we should take good care of them. Sayaka showed us the basket to keep our precious books. We all wanted to have a look later so we decided to keep them in our library.
After that, we were off to our favorite time, park time! Today’s park time turned into very fun experience! On that way to the park, Nimo found the huge moth! “Still moving?” We wondered. “Maybe not.” C replied. Then Nimo looked at it very closely…and it was moving! We observed it a little while and continued heading to the park again. “Oh!” Sayaka pinted out something…it was a cicada. She picked it up and showed it to us. “Nooooo!” G shook his head. “I don’t wanna touch!” Most of us said to her. “Touch!” K showed his finger to tell her that he wanted to touch. As we were very curious about the cicada, Sayaka also wanted us to observe closely so she brought it to the park. It was a great experience for us to observe.
C: It doesn't move. Can he fly? Maybe not. (Then C touched it) Oh! I think it’s moving.
T: He is tired.
E:Hello cicada. I don’t think he can fly. He is going to me again. Oh he stopped again. He is going to my shoes!
G: Stopped!
C: What do they eat? They eat crackers and bananas? Oh he almost sting me!
T: They drink water!
E: Cicada is not eating. He can’t eat by himself.
K touched the cicada and it made a bit of sound. He was a bit surprised and he had to shout, “Ahhhhhhh!”
It was a very interesting experience for all of us. We couldn’t finish our park time without running around. 1.2.3 goooooo! We were chasing Nimo, but we could’t catch him that easily. We had lots of fun running around. It was very hot out site so we made sure to have some water breaks here and there. By the time we were heading back to school, we were all hungry and tired. We went back to school and had yumyum time.
It was a wonderful first week of this school year. Have a wonderful weekend and see you all next week!
