Hello, everyone! It was a cloudy yet thrilling Thursday in Buds. We were so happy to be back in the class to spend the day with our friends and teachers. It was also a great transition time for our new friends as they are settling into the class. We are all ready for another fun day at Ohana!

Morning Activities / Free Play
Inside the classroom, there were sets of wooden blocks and people figurines on top of a yoga mat. By utilizing these materials, we learned to take turns and share them with our friends. This open-ended play helped us to be creative and imaginative while having fun playing together. We managed to build a tower by putting blocks on top of each other, and the fun part of this activity was to take them apart, put them together and then repeat the process again.

Iced Sensory Play
We have colored iced blocks and assorted food toys placed in a big container for our sensory play. K initiated the activity and was fascinated with how the water changed its color while the ice melted.
This activity helped us manipulate and mold different materials using colored cups, sponges, and disposable spoons. Playing with our friends allowed us to develop social skills by sharing and taking turns.
We also continued to work on our process art. This time, we pasted yellow, red, and green paper strips to add more textures and vibrant colors.

Circle Time
Music always allows us to express our feelings; this morning, selections of different music genres kept our bodies moving and dancing to the beat. Using our hands and fingers, we experimented with how to manipulate various instruments like egg shakers, bells, castanets, and drums to help develop our fine motor skills.

We had a story time about “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. After reading the story, we talked about the food that we like to eat, just like the caterpillar in the book.
K likes to eat banana, E likes blueberries, N wants bananas, and L likes ice cream. L went to the kitchen and pretended to prepare some food to share with everyone. Yum! But, uh- oh, we're still hungry, so then we all lined up to wash our hands and got ready for our snack.

Extended Free Play
We went up and down the slide and practiced throwing and catching the balls, this time for our extended free play. With John playing the piano in the background, some of us sang classic songs like, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, “Baa Baa Black Sheep”, “Mary Had a Little Lamb”, and “Row, Row the Boat”. Kako requested the “Papurika” and “Banana” song; we all jumped, ran, hopped, clapped our hands, and turned around.

Have a great afternoon!

Love,
Buds Class
