Visiting the Animal Hospital
[Ohana Journal] June 17th - Visiting The Animal Hospital
Good morning! We had another wonderful day today. You know what? We had a special teacher today. His name is Jake! He is going to be our teacher next school year. We enjoyed spending time together with him. We are sure we will have lots of fun with him next school year.
[Circle time]
Sayaka asked us which morning song we would like to sing today. “Petals! (Petals good morning song)” Then a few children started singing the song…hold on…”Is this Petals or Buds Class?” Sayaka asked us. “Buds?” We said to her “Haha! Let’s sing the Buds’ Class morning song then.” R and S actually taught Jake the greeting song. After we sang the song, we started our circle time with this interesting question from C. “So have you ever eaten spiders? Sayaka?” Sayaka answered, “Spiders? I don’t, but some people eat spiders, and I’ve heard that they are very crunchy. C had a cheeky smile on and asked Jake, “So have you ever eaten spiders? They're very yuck!” Then S volunteered to count the children. We had 8 today. “Who would like to count the children?” Sayaka asked us. We raised our hands. Sayaka asked H because she was raising her hand gently and quietly. She counted the teachers, and we had two teachers.
Sayaka started explaining about today’s plan. She showed a puppet of Pluto and a toy doctor kit. “Can you guess where we are going today?” Theo said, “We’re going to the moon!” Sayaka pretended that she was a vet. C said, “A doctor? Animal doctor?” Yes! She was right. We actually learned a new vocabulary word, which was “vet.” We were super excited to go there so we ran to change our shoes. C said to Sayaka, “Is it real? It looks like an adventure! It’s going to be fun!”
While we were walking, T told us, “I can walk in a straight line!” he kept good balance walking on the line. S saw the laundromat we visited and said, “If you pee in your pants, you can go there!” Haha.
MOJAMOJA Animal Hospital was the hospital we visited today. “Ohayougozaimasu!” We greeted the vet. She had a smile on her face and said, “Good morning! I’m Tomoko!” She welcomed us very warmly. She took us on a tour and explained how she helps dogs and cats. She showed us a syringe without a needle. She explained that it was actually for giving an I.V. She showed us soft toys, and we pretended to use a syringe.
Next was the operation room. There was an X-ray machine. We were able to see a real X-ray photograph. It was a cat’s photograph. The vet showed us the heart, bones, and legs. Wow! It was very interesting! “Arigatou!” When we were going to leave, she gave us a special gift. It was a bag with stickers inside! “Can I take it home?” “I like the stickers!” We were very happy about the special present. Once again, we thanked her.
It was almost time for lunch, so we decided to go back to school. While we were heading to the school, we saw some nice restaurants and cafes. Looking at those places made us so hungry. When we got back to Ohana, we had lunch.
Thank you very much for a wonderful week one! Have a great weekend, and see you all next week!
Love always,
Caring Petals Class Children
