A Virtual Tour Through Azabu- juban

Good morning and welcome to yet another exciting day in summer school! It was a bit rainy today, but should that dampen our spirits? Of course- not!

As we stayed inside the whole day, we had a longer free play. Some friends played with the magnetic 3D puzzles- they were building pyramids, houses, and pointy hats that they let the teachers try on; some of them played with the toy figures. On the table, we had some geometric pictures that friends can fill out and match geometric shapes.

Another table was very busy with arts and crafts- we added a roof to the houses we made yesterday out of brown paper bags. Vieda and Pauline helped us stick them onto construction paper, where we added cars, trees, and additional roofing that we propped up using popsicle sticks. It looked great!

**Circle Time**

Our question of the day today was: What can you see near your house? The choices were hospital, library, and police station. Here are our answers:

1.       Hospital (S)

S: Yesterday, I went to the hospital with my mommy and daddy.

Pauline: Is the hospital near your house?

S: No…. Drive in the car. My daddy drive the car.

Pauline: Why did you go to the hospital?

S: I feel not good. So I go to the hospital.

R: Only mommy.

K: Only mommy go. Only mommy choose books for K, me, and R.

Pauline (to H): Who do you go with?

H: Daddy and mommy. My daddy say I pick up Elsa book, but mommy say “No!” I have Frozen 3.

Y: Police station. Big one. I’m going home and I see bad guy.

R: I never saw a bad guy before.

D: how do you find a bad guy?

4.       None of the above

Pauline: What can we see near your house?

C: I see another building near my house. There are no stores.

N: You can’t see anything but next to my house is my sister and brother. Sometimes my mommy and I go to the park. But it’s kinda small. It has a bench, tree, slide.

R: There are so many other buildings in my city.

Pauline: Do you know which one is the tallest building?

R: I don’t know which is the tallest.

Pauline Is your own building high?

R: It has 14 floors! I live on the 9th floor.

Pauline: How about you K?

K: Nothing. A supermarket down my building- small.

Ke: Cheese…. And Lego.

N: Last time, I went to the zoo. I went to Starbucks and drink smoothie- matcha smoothie.

**Virtual Tour**

Yes, you read that right- we went on a tour of Azabu- juban! We were supposed to go out today to look around Azabu- juban, but the rain was on and off, so we thought it was best to stay inside. Luckily, Pauline prepared a video for us, which we happily watched using the projector. It was actually a video of her and John walking from the train station to Ohana! When they arrived in Ohana, we saw Shelley and she cheerfully said “Hi! Good morning!” Pauline then asked us what we could remember from the virtual walking tour.

H: Restaurant- sandwich restaurant (Carl’s Jr.)

                K: I see Starbucks, McDonald’s chicken nuggets

K: Ohana school, Starbucks, pet store, ice cream shop, temple, beauty salon

                N: Bread shop

                K: School, and kombini

                Y: Ice cream shop

                S: Vending machine

                R: Supermarket

                D: Police officer in supermarket

                R: McDonald’s

                C: Bread store

That concluded our virtual tour- and today! We’re glad to have the chance to explore our community and its different shops, even within the comfort of our own classroom. How about you? How was your day?

Love,
