Our Community

We had a couple of new friends today in Petals Class. We welcomed Hasan and Deo by playing with blocks, using the light table, toy cars and playing in the garden. They fit right in as if they came up from Buds class with us. The morning was spent playing, talking and interacting with our friends and teachers. After free play time we gathered around in a circle to move our bodies a little bit. We stood tall like a flamingo and jumped around. After that we sang our hello song to introduce ourselves, our new friends and teachers. We also learnt that when we cough we should use our arm to cover our mouth, that way the germs don’t get everywhere.

It looked like it was going to rain outside but we wanted to go take a walk anyway after snack. We hope we’re able to go out…

When we finished our snack, we prepared ourselves to go outside. Instead of going to the park like we usually do, we took a walk in our neighborhood. We took photos of the buildings and structures that interested us on the way.

What we saw was amazing! This is what we saw:

1st) S saw the place you go to to get shots. (It was actually a recycle center)

2nd) Hi saw a car and construction site that she wanted to take photos of.

3rd) Re saw Tokyo Tower in the distance.

4th) Gr took a photo of a parking lot across the street and of the cranes behind the buildings.

5th) We saw a laundromat and went inside to take a look. The machines were cool. There were big red ones and yellow ones. D helped us take photos of the machines inside and the exterior.

6th) T saw a gray apartment building he liked and wanted to take a photo of it.

7th) We saw a hair salon and watched them closely as they were dying someone's hair. When the stylist saw us he kindly invited us in. It was amazing to see where they wash their hair and the equipment that they use. H helped us take a photo of the salon as we left.

8th) We saw a pretty dress outside of a building and were curious what it was for. There were pictures of dancers and a nice lady came out to say that we could touch the dress if we wanted. J took a photo of the beautiful dress.

9th) We walked a little more and across the street people were waving at us so we decided to have a look. It was the Salvation Army store. They had a market outside and we asked if we could take a look inside the building. They had lots of paintings on the wall and showed us some of the items they’ve made for sale. Before we left they were kind enough to give us some Perler beads to take home. S helped us photograph the outside before we headed back to school.

It was an adventurous day looking at buildings, meeting our community, and getting to know our neighborhood. We’re happy to get to know our neighborhood and to know that there are a lot of friendly shops around. We hope you’ve also had a wonderful day!

XOXO,
